well ive been shooting going on for about 2 years now. it used to be off and on between the recurve and the coumpound but this year i gave up my compound and am totally comitted to the recurve. ive been using a cheap calf hair tab and a crappy leather glove i got from cabelas when i stated out. i need to upgrade and want something with good padding and a smooth surface. glove or tab does not matter because i use botj equally as bad. i put the string in my 1st knuckle so if its a glove it needs to atleast come back a little past that.also im not really wanting to spend over $30 on one. i am hard on equipment so ill have to buy a replacement every one in awhile.

thanks,
steven

Hey Steven, if you go to The Nocking Point website he has several different gloves to choose from at good prices, His name is Mike and if you want to talk to him his # is on the website he is a great guy to deal with and he always gets the orders out fast. Good Luck

Steven, check out the cordovan tab at 3rivers, its is inexpensive, durable and gives a smooth release with its cordovan face. The have tabs for either split or three under.

For a tab I have found nothing better than the new cordovan Fred Eichler tab at 3-rivers.  More padding than the other cordovan tab from 3 rivers, which curled a lot for me and flew off my finger with the stretch strap when I really shot with dead hand release.  The cordovan is much thicker on the Eichler tab.  I also like the Black Widow calf hair, but the hair on the ones I have had wears out real fast for me.  If you like a lot of padding, the Black Widow super leather has that.  My second favorite tab right now is the Pac-tab. That lets you change it up to fit what you want.
My two favorite gloves are the Super glove and the Big Shot. The super glove will do a nice deep hook. The big shot doesn't have the overlay nylon going back as far as I would like, but it will work or a deep hook once you get a good crease in it and stretched out to fit you.  I really have a hard time with most gloves getting a good deep hook where my fingers really point back at me.  A damascus glove is probably the way to go for that, but I don't think they are what I would call padded.

X 2 on the Eichler tab.  I've been a glove user since I was a kid.  I can't seem to find a glove nowadays that allows you a good feel of the string, good finger protection, and has a slick surface.  I have tried tabs several times and always went back to the gloves.  The Eichler tab is slick, easily trimmed, and has good string feel and finger protection.  Made a convert out of me....I'd order the size larger than you use in a glove and trim to fit as they run a little small. YMMV.

Check Americans Leathers, best glove on the market (in my opinion).

I have a Super Glove and was real happy with it; comfortable, durable,...
...until I started using a cordovan tab.  A couple more to check out are Screaming Eagle and Bateman.

I 3rd the Eichler tab (3R) I used the cordovan tab from Alaska Bowhunting for years but got the Fred Eichler and am sold on it. It's all I use now and can't see changing. I trimmed the pointer finger and that was it. Works perfect for me. Pretty good price too..

I use the Black Widow Leather Tab in a split finger. They cost around $10.00 and wear like iron. I get one all shot in and feeling right, then start another and get it to the same condition. That way I always carry a spare in the field that will feel right if I need to use it. For the money they are well worth a try. Most archery stores or catalog sales will carry them. There are a lot of good tabs and gloves out there, see if a friend will let you try theirs out to get some ideas. Best of luck to you!

Hey Dick. Did you think the Eichler tab runs on the small side like Green thinks? I have been contemplating ordering one but would like to get the right size the first time.

I thought the Eichler tab ran about right with other tabs I have used.  I use a medium.  If anyone gets an M and it is not right, just let me know and I will buy it.  I need a back-up, and don't feel like paying shipping on one item.

Fred Eichler tab from 3Rivers.  Best tab that I've shot with.

I'll second the Nocking Point.  Mike Horton has just about everything you want.  Everything from a $60 glove to a $5 tab.  Personally, I'm not sure the more expensive Big shot or other high end gloves shoot any better they just feel better on your hand.  Mike has some tabs made by neet that are my personal favorate. 7 bucks and they are slick, soft, and my personal fav after shooting a lot of different gloves and tabs.

Hi Steven,
I use slightly modified Neet Pinch Free Tabs exclusively (smooth Super Leather - not calfhair).  To see a pic of one of my modified tabs (very simple & quick modification), check out my post on page three of the following TG thread.

They are very inexpensive... only $7 or $8 each.  For that price, you can afford to lose a few.

Good luck,
RB

I like the all deerskin one made by Neet. Tried a bunch before but have stuck with this one.

Is it common for the hair to wear off the tab fairly quick?
