Seems like a lot of bows just flat out smokes an arrow. lb for lb Morrisons are the quickest bows I shot.

Steelhead

Yaa,Morrisons flat out smoke an arrow.

I dont know where that phrase got started. But it has a nice ring to it.So its popular to use desribing a fast bow.

I confess.I have said it.

benny

I agree. Morrisons are fast and quiet.

I think it is supposed to offer images of an arrow traveling so fast that the fletching catches fire while in flight.  Seems to be a positive connotation.  Course, it is relative.  If you have been shooting 130 fps and shoot a bow that is 160 fps, then it flat out smokes an arrow.  I see it alot when people are selling bows, that way, you don't have to quantify the actual speed.

Bought a 54" Super Shrew Deluxe off here that was advertised that way,and they were right,it does.

saltwatertom

Well,..... The fletching on my arrows is still warm when I go to pull them out of the target after shooting them out of my Daala, does that count as fast enuf???

"Flat out smokes" is at the upper end, followed by "really spits them out."

By the time you get down to "very forgiving" it's a bow that allows you to reach out and manually correct the arrow in the early stages of flight.

Say, maybe that's how they make carbon arrows?  Shoot a cedar out of a Morrison?

Make sure you check all your bows with a scale. Don't go by what's writen in the bow for weight. I think all the highend bows are about the same.

I smoked an arrow once, didn't do anything for me. Then again I didn't inhale.
