I wanted to get some impressions of the new Bear bows at Kazoo.  The guys from Bear were sure excited about the product and seemed to be getting good reviews.

I played with a Super Kodiak and it sure seemed like my 1973, but they didn't have a LH takedown at the show.  My hunting buddy shot a RH and performed well for him.

What was your impression?

As you are aware, I was unable to attend the show this year but I heard the burgers were good    I am very interested in any feedback on the new bear line of bows as well.

The new takedown A riser is on my short list.  I spend a very short time with the bow but was impressed with it's smooth draw and dead in the hand feel for a 56" bow.  I really like what they did with the looks of the bow as well.    

They looked GREAT!! I was happy to see they brought the shelfs down over your hand and I loved that!!

I shot a B riser and found it to be very nice.  I shot a 45" @ 28" bow and my arrows were a bit heavy @ 650 gr.  Still it shot very nice.  The Bear guys did not have a nock on the string so I kinda chased the arrow all over the serving and could not shoot my normal 3 under.  The verdict?  I ordered an A riser with not inserts to go with my Rose Oak #3 Limbs. Please tell me I wasn't the only one!

Sunday I took the both riser bows to the shooting area.  The long riser didn't have a nock and my arrow and tab were sliding a lot when I tried to take a shot.  I didn't shoot it for fear of the dry fire.  I shot the short 56" bow.  At 29 1/2" draw it was sooth, stable and all around pleasure for me.  I liked it a lot.  I bet the long bow was real sweat.

I'm the one Dave mentioned shooting the RH. I shot the B riser and absolutely loved it. I'm real close to ordering one just because. I normally hate inserts but I think I'll leave them in and get a Kanati angle quiver to go on it. I wish I had shot the A riser but I think 56" is just way shorter than I would have liked.

Sure was fun this year.

I shot the A and B riser takedowns with #1 limbs on Friday night.  The "B" looked good, felt good and shot very well, which didn't particularly surprise me.  But... I was very surprised when I shot the "A".  It was smooth drawing... well beyond what you'd expect from a 56" bow.  It had plenty of mass, was very comfortable, was great looking - and was a real pleasure to shoot.  It was much better than what I expected... it was definitely the "surprise" bow of the Expo for me.  The price seemed very reasonable (by comparison) to me also.

Sounds like an "A" riser is in order!!! I have read in a few posts that custom orders are being made. What custom options are available--Does anyone know?

Someday I will own one of the new "A" riser TD's, you know, just for those days when I dont feel like shooting my longbows

I have the A riser with #3 limbs on order since January 7th. I also had the B riser on order but I cancelled it last week.  With #3 limbs I can't beleive how nice the A risers feel, I don't need the longer riser now.

I'd love to get this bow dipped in Predator Camo but dipping a brand new wood riser bow would probably get me fined.

How long is the A riser and #3 limbs?

60" with #3 limbs.  I draw 30.5", but the Rose Oaks are incredibly smooth.  I am shooting an A mag right now and can't really see hunting with a B that would be 64".
The only option I inquired about was eliminating the inserts and Tri State said no problem.  I like to use either a  Safari Tuff or a strap on quiver so I can take it off in a treestand.
My dad had a factory camo Bear takedown in 1969. I pay serious money to buy that one back. If you want it dipped go for it!  Wonder if they could do it in a removeable paint?

I shot split finger for perhaps the 3rd time in my life because they didn't have a nock on that B riser.  I found it disappointing they wouldn't nock it, and even more so when I hear it was still like that Sunday.  The arrows they gave me walked up the string too.

Anyway, all that said and even with all that frustration I found the B riser to be fantastic.  It was smooth and quick.  It's in my top 2 bows coming out of K-zoo.  It was beautiful too.  I think it looked better than the pics on line.

I have one more bow to check out then I think I will make an order for one of the 3.

I agree.  It just seemed like they would have known a nock is kinda important. What part of Ohio?  It was a long ride by myself.

When I shot the B riser it had a nock on it.

Those boys were pretty excited Friday night. My guess is they were a little overwhelmed and didn't know what to expect. I bet the next show they come to they will be better prepared. I'd like to shoot the A riser in a 60" version. Anyone here that may have shot both risers in a 60" have input on how they compare. Even if we are talking about older bows.

Anybody try out the K mag? (if they had one there). I like the Green glass and want to try a short bow.
