"Da Bomb" - 62" Protégé Hunter

This is my daughter's bow. It has a cocobolo riser with the double stripe phenolic strips with a strip of Bocote in the center. Additionally, it has a phenolic overlay on the back (which we can offer on any of our bows). The limbs in this bow are bamboo on the back and core with red elm on the belly.

That is da bomb. That's almost exactly the way I like my bows - minus the red elm in back and a little heavier. That's drool-worthy material right there!

Thanks guys. I wanted her to have a light weight bow to practice with. This one is only 28#@26" of draw...she is only 12 years old.

Kids love looks and put looks over performance, so I had to "doll" it up a bit more than a standard bow. In fact, my daughter likes to looks of the curves on a recurve bow and is pushing me to make a recurve for her for that reason. If I do so, I guess I will have to name it "the contradiction."   :help:
Until next time...good shooting,

Amen brother! But, were also pushovers for a little affection and you'll be overwhelmed with it if you make that for her!   :biglaugh:

SS10, Thanks.

Wannabe,

For full disclosure, I guess I could go ahead and "let the cat out of the bag" so to speak. I actually started a form for her about a month ago. I even got a few pieces of pink ivory for her to put in that project (after making a test bow to be sure I got it right), but I am extremely uptight about precision accuracy in my forms and due to time limitations I didn't finish that form yet...and set that project aside for now. I will come back to it later. Right now I have some orders I need to be working on. But, "contradiction" may end up being added to the line. My goal for that bow was to develop a high performance bow for individuals with short draws (56" length for 24-26" draws or a 58" for 26-28+?" draws). I don't suspect that design will be stable for long draws as it is designed to get the most out of a bow for women and children (particularly my wife and daughter). Of course, being a person that requires my bows to be very quiet, quick, durable, and stable...we will have to see if it turns out a success or not. If it doesn't meet my criteria, I will NOT add it to my line, but if it does, we might see "contradiction" go into production for anyone (man, woman, or youth) with a short draw. Only time will tell, as good idea or not, ultimately "the proof is in the pudding." Again though, that will be something I complete later after I fill my current orders.
Until next time...good shooting,
Lee

Here is a photo and a video link of my daughter, Courtney, shooting her 1st Protege Longbow. In the photo it looks as if her left eye is closed, but it is not. She is left eye dominant, so even though she is right handed she shoots left handed. This is her 2nd time shooting this bow, but she has been shooting a traditional bow for about 8 months. She has good form overall...so I may sound a bit overbearing in the video but she asked me to point out any room for improvement I see. Typically, she is very static in her release and I have been trying to help her work on pulling off her release in a backwards motion. Other than that, I think her form is outstanding. Once she gets her form down to "natural reaction" we will then begin working on her accuracy, but check out her last 2 shots on the old pumpkin!
