Here I went and did it again, just placed an order for my 3rd Thunderstick MOAB. I'll admit, I'm addicted to that bow.

Preparing for an extended elk hunt this fall, thought it would be a good idea to have a backup. My son is gonna use my usual hunting MOAB, as his is a little light in the draw weight for elk.

I really don't want to take my arrow inlay MOAB out there, as the bow does take its licks in the oak brush and rocks.

So the only reasonable choice I could come up with is get another one. Havent decided on which wood configuration yet, but I think I'll go with a takedown version. Probably nothing too fancy.
I dont need another parade bow, just agood solid huntin bow. Thinkin 55-58# at 27" ought to to the trick. 60".

Now I know there are plenty of other good bows out there, but I love them MOAB's the best.

There's no reason to baby that bow take her out to elk country.  

I'll take it along for a backup. I usually hunt with "Meat" my snakeskin backed bow, but my kids gonna use that one. My inlay bow "The Mistress" is too shiny, and I hate hunting with bow socks on the bow. I deer hunt with it here and there though, but its not my first choice for elk.

Im gonna have Jim build the new one in a takedown. Just gotta comeup with a good name for it. Alaways wanted a takedown, which will be nice for the pack in. I can tuck it in my pack.

Trust me, "Meat" takes a beating, gonna put a new coat of finish on it this summer, its lookin a little rough.

I gotta check out those MOABS!!!! Heard TONS of great stuff about them. 1 question though, when you said "I really don't want to take my arrow inlay MOAB out there" what is that? Mind if I see a picture of that one?  

I have a few Moab's. Imo just no better bow
 

The arrow inlay bow is a model Jim makes only for fundraiser auctions. It is an absolute piece of artwork, the arrow you see in the riser is done by inlaying several different woods, it is not painted on, and it goes all the way through the riser. Trimmed out with quilted maple limbs, antler overlays and tips......simply a beautiful piece of workmanship, and shoots as good as it loooks.

I know the signs.... I may be coming down with another case of "MOAB Fever"...lol

I don't blame you for not wanting to beat that bow up.

I've got some pretty bows...and some pretty MOABs....nothing wrong with a battle scar or two....just reminds you of the hunt and adds character.

Can't disagree with you Terry, "Mest" has plenty of scars. The Mistress is a special bow to me for a number of reasons. While I love shootin it, and a bit of deer hunting with it, Im not convinced I want to subject her to a month in elk country. For a backup-sure. For daily forays through everything I crawl through in the Gunnison Nat'l Forest/Raggeds Wilderness, Nope.

BEsides, its just a good enough reason to order another one!
