I am going to use a ghillie for turkeys this spring. I have found me a good very portable seat I've had a suit (coat/pants) from Cabelas the light weight one. My question is would I be able to get by just using the coat, I want to do this for mobility reasons as the pants will hang on too much stuff going through the woods, the jacket I can get mobile quickly. Will just the jacket be enough cover for me or do I need to use the pants? The jacket comes down below my waist when standing. Need a little help from the folks that have used a ghillie in the past. Thanks

Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me, Gen 27:3

Not sure about turkeys but I have the T.C.S. ghillie jacket from cabelas  and used it with a pair of brown pants and had a total of 16 deer come within 10 yrds of me while hunting on the ground this year.

"SHOOT STRAIT" - something im still working twards

My ghillie is synthetic and it does not hang up as much as you might think. I have been astounded at how well it works for stalking deer. knowing how well turkeys see, I personally would use the whole outfit or at least have some cover high enough to cover my legs.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

I have the standard ghillie suit ,And I don't like it because it gets caught up on branches and trees. It's made of burlap . This past fall I purchased one from Big Jim.  It is called the "bush in the bag " . He is a sponsor on here .

It is lighter and does not get caught on branches ,It is of little greener than what I like ,So I'll be taking care that this summer. You also can use it as a camo blind in front of you .Or you can wear it just like the ghillie suit.

with turkeys sitting still is the key any good camo works until you move.

I do want to try one of the ghillie suits though, everybody speaks highly of them and I dont hunt out of trees much anymore deer hunting.

I to don't like the jacket and pants combo.  The pants never fit right and hang on everything in Texas.  I use a poncho style that is knee length and use a belt around the middle.  Works great!  Hope to get out for turkeys with it myself this year.
