A buddy of mine is really wanting to get into Trad archery. His only concern is his short draw length. He wants to be sure he'll have what it takes to be effective with his equipment with hogs and deer.  His draw is 25.5" and would wanna shoot a 45# bow.  I told him I would post a thread and see how many guys have this short DL and what they're shooting? So if any of ya'll could give me some info to pass along to him I would appreciate it!!
Thanks, Sam

I have a 25" draw (damn these short arms!) and generally use about a 55#@28" bow.
Works fine for me.

I have a 26 and shoot a 60# @ 28 which drops me to about 54. I also have a 50# @ 28, so I get about 44 out of it, give or take a pound or 2. No problems for me.

I have a 26.5" draw and I'm pulling 45 pounds at my draw.  I've shot clean trough two deer and had the arrow sticking out about 10" on the far side of a 3rd deer.

I was shootinga 2016 gamegetter cut to 29.5" and tipped with a 125 gr 2 blade magnus.  Your buddy should do just fine.  Arrow weight was around 490 gr total.

He could have Mike at Maddog Archery build him a Mutt Longbow 45 at 25.5 for 260 to his door.

He would have exactly what he wants and built just for him.

Good job on introducing someone to trad.

Sounds good guys! I will pass along the info and I'd say we'll have another trad guy in the making!!  He's a very good bowhunter and knows about the limitations that will come with stickbows.
Thanks, Sam

My wife has a short wing span 24" and she shoots a 60# @28 with some effort. She is comfortable with a 55# longbow..

I'm pretty sure these were on three separate occasions, and not all at once.
