Alright so i was wondering what you guys shoot generally for arrows, i know my bow and i love woodies but my wallet doesn't. so do you guys practice with aluminum's or carbons and then hunt with woodies ? just looking for some food for the brain

I generally practice with the same arrows that I hunt with.  Currently shooting Gold Tip Blems 5575 from Big Jim.  They are less expensive than aluminums or woods, and will hold up better at misses.

Woodies only since 2006, I am playing with CX2117 Aluminum.

Woodies only since 1982.  (And prior, but I tried a compound with aluminums for a couple years - got over it).

all wood and the price you pay for wood is what you get if you pay for good wood you get good wood and it last.

I've always shot wood.The price is getting high,but i just love-em.Who knows someday i might try something else.But for now i'll keep to wood!

Surewoods are awesome,I have supercedars(magnolia) as well.Check the classifieds on the main page you can always get good deals.

I build my own. I spend about 60 dollars a year on shafts(2 dozen) and have a stock pile of feathers and plan on using wild turkey feathers from now on. If you spend the inicial investment to build your own or can live with plain arrows wood can be just as good and cheaper than carbon or aluminum.

No question you have to cobble up your own for wood or it gets costly.

i used aluminum and its ok. but im gonna be trying wood soon and from the sounds it sounds like it will be better. its all basically a personal preference between wood, carbon, or aluminum arrows. try them and see which you perfer.

i like carbons do to its ether there good or broken.  aluminums are nice but then you have to worry about them bending.   i would like to get some wood arrows eventually though

When it comes to shooting my trad bows, specifically recurves, for the last 47 years I've practiced with aluminum arrows and bowhunted with aluminum arrows.

I praticce with and hunt with both wood and aluminum . I shoot aluminum the most and have taken alot of game with them . I will be trying carbon this year just to see how I like them but for now i still love aluminum the best .

Shoot all 3 Wood, Aluminum, and Carbon at times have hunted with all 3.

I love making wood arrows and hunt with them often.

I have however taken a lot game with 1918, 2018 and 2020 aluminum arrows.

Hard to beat carbon for durability.

I gave up wood because I could never get the tips to not pull off in my Mackenzie type deer targets

i love wood bows, and i love wood arrows. i am finally, finally shooting the finest arrows i have ever been able to have from paul at elite, and my improved shooting of late bears this out.

Have tried all three, but like aluminum for the weight. With out adding any extra weight system like with using carbon. But sure thinking hard about wood.

I alway shoot wood. My supplier delivers my shafts all on exactly the same spine (53lbs), weight and takes care they are straight.
Then I build them myselve. I cut them on length, glue a nock on, lacquer the last 10 inches of the shaft, glue the point on, fletch them and seal the remaining of the shaft with two layers of Tung-oil. In this way my arrows are around the € 4.50 which is not expensive, cheaper then carbon or aluminium.

They look and fly great!

i have been shooting wood since 1989 and fell off the wagon for the last few years but im proud to say im back on the wood wagon and plan to stay on!!
