I have a 2010 Martin Savannah #45@28 and 2010 Martin Hunter #40@28. Can they be used with fast flight strings or not and what would you recommend. Thanks for your replies.

They sure can,I bought a Savannah years ago when they first came out and it came with a FF type string.I shoot a 6 strand 450+ on mine,I shot D97 but like 450+ the best on it,mine is 55#@28.

All of the new Martins can use fast flight. Don't just take the properties of non stretch strings as value though. My brother and I believe that the Martin Hunter performs optimally shooting a B-50 string at the low range of the brace height. Your experience and preference will vary of course, but personally I don't believe the newer strings are necassarily better in all cases.

Unless it's changed in the last year or two, BCY makes a material exclusively for Martin Archery called "Helix" or "Double Helix" (I forget), which is a FF type material.

That depends on what "properties" you are talking about.  If someone says "I picked up 38 fps and had to go 3 arrow spines heavier just by switching strings!", then I agree with you--you can't take such claims seriously--it's just not going to happen.

However, the facts are the FF type materials are much more durable and have much less stretch/creep than any dacron string material (B-50, B-500, or B-55).  Since they have much less stretch, the bow can be braced lower than it normally can with dacron.

Preferances still vary though--shoot what you like.  I prefer Dynaflight '97 and Formula 8125.

For what its worth, i bought a couple of the double served D97 strings from 3rivers for my Bear Montana, and i visually can see its faster and hits harder! I used a set of catwhskers to quiet it, and its just as whisper quiet as it was with dacron!

D-97 is my string of choice for all my bows that take them.
