I have a pair I use for stalking.I have only had them a since this summer.I would say you can just about cut the noise in half by slipping on a pair of mocs.If the woods are a little damp you can realy move silently.I slipped up on a bedded doe and killed her at 6  yards in Nov.
Yes they can get slick on wet surfaces, but I just curl my toes down if I think it is going to be slick. So far I have been able to stay vertical with little trouble.I realy like them.If Im still hunting I will not be wearing anything else.

I have had a pair of Russell Moccasins PH THula THula Moccasiins for about two years. Absolutely love them. I have worn them elk hunting in Colorado, deer hunting at home, and bird hunting. I had a pair of Carl Dyers but found them to be to stiff. THe Ph's are expensive but I really like the canvas uppers.

Cottonwood; put some leggings on those things & it's on. Really dig mocs but wear them out much too fast through the leather bottom. Added leather insoles but water comes through. No good. Had some exact Arrow & Docs as above. Same thing.

Trapper,,, what kind of leather is that almond colored pair? guessing its deer or elk but those look very comfortable.

What about these Crepe soles I read about? Are they any good and are they quiet enough for stalking like leather?

Not really mocs, I know, but fantastic boots none the less & you won't fall on your ass every time you try to walk on wet grass.

guys take an scuff up the bottoms of your mocs and buy some shoe goo and put a small layer on bottom i have had mine for 15 years an havent wore out the soles i will come off just put more on..you wont slip an break your kester any more either..

Wannabe1

sticbow, I did a search and that Shoe Goo is made right here in Eugene, Oregon. Only 45min down the road from me. What I read about it is pretty amazing so, putting it on the sole of your moc was pretty ingenious! Once I decide on a pair of mocs, I will give it a try.

very u wont know its on there..your butt will

Wannabe1

I gotta be honest, there ain't no way I can afford some of these manufactured mocs like Russel and Arrow! If a person was to buy one of those kit type moccasins where you put them together yourself, and treated the bottom with Shoe Goo, would they be durable enough?

Here in wv my feet would freeze.

Wannabe1

Jax, these would be for mostly the early season. Late season it rains enough to keep most areas pretty quiet for stalking.

I would be interested in a kit as well. Would be great for early  season deer and squirrel where I hunt.

:archer:  You cant beat mocs for stalking , but for wet or cooler weather huntng the LL Bean rubber bottom hunting boots do a good job . The soles are soft enough for good feel .
I'm drinking from a saucer, cause my cup has overflowed.
