Some years back,when I still had training wheels on my bows,I read an article written by Dwight Schuh.He was having sholder trouble at the time and like any hard core archer he wasn't about to stop shootin' just because of a little surgery.Well he came up with a unique way to shoot by wraping a short piece of narrow dog collar around his bow string and clamping on to that with his teeth!Then he would draw using his neck muscles.Living close to San Antonio Texas as I do I thought I thought I might make up a couple of light draw weight bows and take them over to one of the many veterans hospitals there.Any advice on how to go about teaching a person that might have only one arm,or maybe no legs and has to shoot sitting in a wheel chair?I'm dead in the water here guys,so any and all suggestions are welcome.

Any idea as to draw weight?Pulling with just neck muscles do you think 30# would be too much?

30 would work teach them to hold with the neck and push the bow away with the bow arm.

Mike up at the Nocking Point knows a guy who shoots just that way.  I don't recall the guy's name, but you might give Mike a call and pick his brain.  He told me about the fellow one time when I was up there.  He might have some ideas.

I shot a 3D round with a one armed shooter. He had a tab on the bow string that he clinched with his teeth and he pushed his bow away from him.

He didn't need any handicapping...lol

He has harvested deer while I ended up eating tag stew.

Years ago I recall a fella in Michigan did this same thing.  As I recall he too used a hunting weight bow so Im sure 30# would be a good starting point.

Thanks for the input guys.I just had the wife sew up a velcro tab and put it around the string of a 30#er.Daaaannnggg!!!With a little practice a guy could get pretty good!!Next to a little girl in camo,can you think of anything better than the smiles on these vets faces when that first arrow gets loosed?
