All mine but 1 are 68" or longer Hills. Never a problem from trees nor ground. Just the opposite for me as these draw sweet & shoot sweeter. I'm 6'2" & draw 31".

with a hill style longbow, i need 68" to cover my 29" draw length.  i find it tough for me to switch over to it from my 62" mild r/d "D" longbow - those added 3" at each end seem like 12" when manuevering through the bush.  i haven't even contemplated hunting from above!

No problem for me using my 68" longbows.

Sometimes my 70" , just gotta watch out for those limbs above!

I hunt from the ground with a 70" yew long bow. Ever since going to a 70", I really don't want to hunt with any thing less. Any issues I had dealing with the length I over came from practicing with it, shooting from all positions I could come up with that might happen in a real situation.

I tend have the string pull hard against my chest with a 70 inch, I like to cant the bow about 45 degrees and still have my eye over the arrow.

Never had a problem with my 68" Hills.

neat pic, jerry!

i'm sure if i put the time in with the 68" and 69" hill longbows they'd be comfy enuf.  for now, the little 62" 'hawk t/d is my go-to hunter.

I use a 68" and found that you just get use to accomodating the length.  It does make it a little tougher out of a treestand, especially if you try shooting at a steep angle while sitting.  Just have to figure out how you can bend and manuver while insuring you don't whack your limb tips on anything.

I tend to like the longer bows as well, my first selfbow was 72" yew.  Shot a nice buck with that bow from a treestand no less. Most of the bows I build are longer, 66+ as a rule, I like the forgiving nature of a longer bow and it feels right in my hands.
Hunt fair, hunt hard, no regrets.

Rob, that pic taken at the range in Mahwah? Looks kind of like that place. Used to love hanging out there.

I hunt with a 68" longbow.  Mostly elk but also mule deer and javelina as well as some others.  I always hunt from the ground and maybe it is just because I am tall (6'05") but I don't feel the length impedes me....Shawn

naw, that's from the whittingham shoot in '08.  i'm real close to mahwah, and that's where i do most of my roving (during the week, when no one's there).

here's some memory lane mahwah pics from a few years ago ...

Mine's only 66" but it's not the size of the bow... Aw shucks.
