Been looking around the forum for some hours now...it's mind bogling how much information there is here!

It's so much that I must have got lost here...so I'll give up and put out the question in the open!

I'm looking for a recurve bow besides my longbow (Internature Viper delux 50Ibs) .

But I cant get a grip of I need a TD or a OP bow?
I can see the benefit of a TD when it's a matter of transport, but is there any diffrence in the shooting and handling of the bow?

I'm looking at the Samick bows as they are avalible for me here, seams good bows to.

A T/D will have more mass weight then a OP bow..

3pc t/d bows will add quite a bit of weight, due to the added hardware.  they will also allow added sets of limbs for either different holding weights or as a bacup.  

2pc t/d bows will, for the most part, look and act like a 1pc. with minimal added weight.  

aside from any form of commercial travel, there is no real need for a t/d.  if you fly out to hunts, a t/d is almost a requirement, imho.

I much prefer TD recurves over one-piece even though I have bought two 1-piece bows in the past 10 months. Like written above, I like the added weight, the ease of traveling, and the possibility of changing out limb weights. But, one of the big reasons I like TDs I like the looks of the bow better for some reason compared to many bowyer's 1-piece offerings.

I'm a TD guy I like the extra heft in the bow I have a hard time keeping a 1 piece stable. Plus I like the looks of a 3 piece TD, and the option of extra limbs

I would have to agree. I have 2 takedowns and the extra weight seems to take some of the shock out of it. Being able to break it down for travel is a big plus as well. I have shot one piece bows but a takedown will always be my hunting bow.

I have a TD recurve and like the weight of it, but I love the look of the one piece. That probably don't help you much! HA! I guess it just comes down to personal preferance.  Jason

There are two piece take downs available, to see a superb one, go on Dan Toelke's site:  www.montanabows.com,  click on "current bow inventory" at top left of page then scroll down to "traditional recurves" and click on.

Shipping a one piece to Sweden is risky at best unless good PVC tube = high shipping costs compared to 2 or 3 piece. Most folks shoot three piece better as extra weight is a plus. In many bows the three piece option would allow you to buy extra limbs for more vesatility and cheaper overseas shipping again on just limbs.

I love the little bit of extra weight, and the convenience of a takedown, can experiment with different length, and weight limbs, espeically if ILF. Also, if you  have a mishap and bust a limb, can always order another set!

I've made up my mind (I think!) going after a TD bow, and I'm looking at Samick bows:
-Leopard 2
-Deermaster
-Lighning

It's a hunt on it's own this looking for a new bow!

The main reason I like a TD is so I can use a limb bolt mounted quiver. It is the most solid type bow quiver. The slide-on or strap wrap types always get loose or flop too much for me.
