I am shooting a new bow that is #55@28" my draw is 30". I have some cabelas 400 carbon hunter arrows, 8.1 gpi with 125gr. field tips. when shooting a bare shaft through paper I get a large tear rather than a hole. I would prefer to shoot carbon through this bow. I have no clue what to try. Should I change arrow spine, tip weight, or something else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

At your draw weight I would use Beeman 500 MFX carbons. They should fly great and penetrate well. Good luck Don

I would think if your 400 carbon hunters are 400 spine you might want to try a 350. With that draw length you are pulling around 61 pounds.

Steve-regardless of what arrow you opt to shoot, make sure you use Stu Miller's "Dynamic Spine Chart". This is a great tool to use while setting up a new bow or changing arrows etc.! It will lead you in the right direction and save you a lot of grief.
I struggled most of the summer and fall trying to get my bow set up & shooting up to snuff. Could never get the set up just right then finally emailed Stu Miller....made the 2 changes he suggested and whamo!....first time fired 7 arrows in a 5" circle! Just did this yesterday! give it a try....sorry about being long winded! good luck!
