Never heard of anyone calling in rabbits...but who knows?

Dunno.  I have heard/read of some distress squeeks and whatnot being used to bring rabbits and other small game into range, but I haven't tried it myself.  There is a bit about it in Pope's "Hunting With the Bow and Arrow".

You won't call a rabbit in.

I like to still hunt through areas with tracks. If there is no tracks, there is no bunnies. If you jump one, watch were it goes and stalk it.

I've called jackrabbits with a jackrabbit voice predator call.
But they weren't actually coming in to the call, they were really running all around me in a state of utter panic. I probably couldn't have hit one with a shot gun.

We had our first snow yesterday so, immediately after work I went for a drive to scout for areas with rabbit tracks. 13 miles of dirt roads later I went home without having seen a single track. I did, however, see about 40 red tailed hawks and almost a dozen white tail does.

It seems rabbit numbers have been declining here at least since 1998 when I moved back here. In the late 70's & early 80's I lived in northern Cowley County where I could shoot 4 to 6 of the dozen or so rabbits I saw just about any fall/winter morning. Granted, back then I didn't know anything about archery and therefore hunted with a .22 or a 20ga. but, I actually saw plenty of rabbits back then.

I'm not sure what is going on in this area but, I sure wish the rabbits would return.
