has anyone had any commits on 7 lakes bows. i have decided to go traditional after almost 30 years of compound shooting. i bought a new compound one year ago, the wife is up in arms about buying    :confused:   another, so my budget is very small. anything will help thanks.

I have heard nothing but great things about the 7 Lakes bows and they are on my list to try.  Only problem is, they must be so good you hardly ever see one for sale in the classifieds.  He does have the bow blank that is mostly finished and only requires some sanding and finishing that is quite a bit cheaper than a finished bow.

I have done two of his blanks and both turned out to be real nice shooters!!

Very quiet and smooth shooting bows. I had one made by Mike.

I bought his bow blank. The nice thing about the blank is you can easily finish it off into the range of a 600 dollar custom bow- if you have the skills and desire to do so.

On mine I trapped the limbs to the back and slimed the limbs with more taper than it came with. Still well within standards for this design and cross section of limb.  I also added a lot of detail to the riser- finger grip style on the back etc. and three piece tips of contrasting woods.

Anyway, the bow was a tack driver once I did my part and only added 2-1/2lbs an inch after 28. I draw 30.

I owned a 7 Lakes and it was one of my most favorite bows.

I have plans to own one of Mike's "Hill style" long bows someday.(God willing)

They would be hard to beat for shooting. (IMHO)

Mikes stuff is as good as it gets.  Great guy to talk with, good family man, and his bows shoot 100 yard bear targets!!!! Just ask my wife, who shoots one.......

I bought a "Short Night" blank and a "Long Night" completed bow from 7 Lakes.  The blank finished great and now I have the best of both worlds.  A short longbow for hunting and a long one for shooting.  

You can't go wrong with one of Mike's bows.

I finished a Long Night blank about a year and a half ago.  Easy and fun.  Mike is very helpful if you have any questions.

Traded into one a couple months ago, was very pleasantly suprised.  Great shooter!    

I had Mike make me a 58 short knight.
This guy seems truly honest!
But now you be the judge.
the bow is 51# @28"--My draw is 26.5 and 45 # at my draw (I asked for 45lbs!)
All the charts show 1816 @27.5 inch arrow length and possibly 1916.
To give you an idea of the cast of this bow I am shooting 125 point 4 " fletch 2016 legacys at 27.5 inches!!-shooting through paper  showed perfect bullet holes at 6 and 12 feet and bare shafting out to 25 yds very slightly weak(very slight).
There is no hand shock and the draw is absolutely smooth! Finger pinch is at a minimum for a short bow.Workmanship is par to all top line bows.

selling the wheels should help offset the wife's frustration with purchasing "another bow", and go a long way toward funding a new one.

Its a big leap, that I haven't ever regretted.

Never shor one but considered buying one...price is right for sure.

i am also making the switch. i dont have any input on 7 lakes bows, although everyone i've talked with has nothing but good to say. i bought a new mathews in jan. 10, bought a used mohawk in jan.11, and just sold the mathews(was a bit unnerving). i don't think i will be disappointed though. good luck, and happy shooting.

Mike is very easy to work with. His bow blanks represent a good value.
