Exactly what I had in mind

Great looking hats. I have just ordered one from BotB website.

A good pair of tin snips will make any baseball cap a short bill. Been doing that for years before it was even fad to have a frayed front edge! ☺
Most people get rich by making more money than they have needs, me, I just reduced my needs!

Bowtie

As shown above, the Bowhunters Lid is a great hat.  Bought one at Denton Hill from the Brothers of the Bow last year.

I'm going to try to cut a baseball hat as well and see what I like better

As a joke, I once bought one of those salt water fishing hats with the super long 10" front bills in camo color. I cut a slot just off center to the right side and had my wife sew up the edges. I wore it to a shoot once just for laughs. You can't walk around any bunch of bowhunters without getting laughs. In all honesty, I was shocked at how well it worked. Once you get it adjusted in the right spot on your head, a bow string slides right down the slot perfectly! I smell a patent pending!

LONGSTYKES

Good Info. I currently use a felt hat in the Fred Bear style, works well in cool weather. Can be warm when it hot weather. Like the hat Gary Logsdon shows from the Brothers of the Bow.

I don't think I could pull off the slot in the hat so I went ahead and got one of the hats from brothers of the bow. I plan on getting another hat from some other Trad Gang sponsors as well.

Whatever happened to the hats that had a short 2" brim all the way around the hat?  Haven't seen one in years.

My memory is history, so I can't think of the name...

And no, it's not a boonie.

I think they were called bucket hats....like you I haven't seen one in years!

Search on "stingy brim" if you're thinking of the narrow brimmed hats felt hats like Sinatra wore.

A lot of people don't know this but any fur felt hat (not wool) can be easily trimmed down to any width. One of those tools they use to cut leather belt strips works, but a steady hand and razor knife works too. Just use 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper to smooth/round off the cut edge.

Keep a lookout for a wide-brimmed Stetson hat at garage sale or thrift shop, trim the brim, steam the crown over a teakettle into the shape you want, and there ya go.

The "bucket hat", or whatever it's called was very popular.  Very common in the '80s and maybe the early '90s?

I remember thinking back then, that only old guys wore them.

20 or 25 years later, I'm ready for one!

Reed like's his Big Jim hat.  I like 'em too.  They are cheap enough that I buy a couple every time I see him!

Who designed these hats?  I've seen on the Wensels website, but I'm not familiar with Big Jim.

I was just checking out Big Jims website the other day and I think I might have to try one of his hats.  Really like the way they look.
