I'm trying to find a short brim hat for early season. I found a few for colder weather but I'm looking for something I can wear in august. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Stormy Kromer. BigJim also has a nice one that would work well for early season.

I got a camo one from the Nocking Point last week.  Works great.

Big Jim has some good Barry Wensel style hats. I like them the brim has a wire in it and can be adjusted.

The Alabama Hat Lady makes a great hat for bowhunters.

I got one as a gift that came from the "Brothers of the Bow". Real nice ,brim can also be bent up. Used it in South Carolina last weekend worked great!

In fact it's like KentuckyTJ's, mine is dark brown!

Although most people don't realize it, Stormy Kromer makes a short brim cap for women called the "Ida" that has sizes up to 7 5/8. It is very similar to the cap designed by Ron LaClair that is no longer being made by Stormy Kromer. The Ida does not come in a camo pattern or some of the other colors that the men's cap comes in, but it does come in dark brown, blue spruce, eggplant, white, red, and red/black plaid colors, all of which can be very good hunting colors depending on conditions. As long as you don't have a really large head (I don't) the Ida caps will fit men well. I personally will avoid the pink and raspberry colors, but then I may not be as secure in my manhood as some others are.      :saywhat:     http://www.stormykromer.com/womens/caps/ida-kromer-cap

Similar to the Ida is the "Cord" cap which is made of a corduroy material for warmer weather.  http://www.stormykromer.com/womens/caps/cord-cap

If you want cotton, look at the Predator Camo website.

How about a lightweight boonie cap?

I will check out all the suggestions, keep them coming. I'd like it to be camo but as long as it has a short brim I'll be happy. Thanks everyone!

Kentucky TJ beat me to it! I just received one of BigJim's hats for Christmas and love it! In addition, it's a LOT more affordable than others coming in at only $10-$12 depending on what you options you choose. I like them so much that I'm gonna order another so that I have one to wear in the woods and one to wear for casual.

I like Big Jim's with the wire brim.  You can adjust the bill and turn up a corner for string clearance.

I'm glad I asked because I love the suggestions. Now I need to decide which I like best.

Filson packer is a great hat. It's not camo, but I see no need for a camo hat.

Here ya go.  Available from Brothers of the Bow.  My son and I wore one this season and they're really functional in the field . . . not just for warm weather either; he wears his under a hood in colder temps to help control the position of the hood.  By turning the wire brim up you can keep the hood at bay. When it gets colder I just slip a knit cap over it and I still have the advantage of a short brim.
