Just got back from a pig hunt with Ray Hammond....great time, I think I gained 7 pounds. Real unique experience, never hunted anywhere like it before. Did not get a pig but I had a still hunt all most happened when a hog bedded in front of me. I worked the wind and when it almost happenen he was broadside at 12 yards....just to much stuff in the way for a clean shot.......it was neat!!! I'm sure the other guys will jump in and share.....really a great trip.      :notworthy:   THANKS RAY.......ron w

We really got snookered by the weather....

I really enjoyed the weekend with you guys- Ron, Ken, Chris and Jeff!

It's not supposed to be this cold in the low country of South Carolina!!!

Hah, snookered...

Saw more wildlife in two days down there than I have all season. Stalked within 5 yards (if that) of a nice boar, even if I didn't know it. Found myself surrounded by three decent bucks at 15 yards. Called in a pretty hen turkey just for the heck of it. Spent time outside stalking through the river cane, palmetto, and a few cyprus, in weather that would have made any deer hunter smile up north. Even got my armadillo.

When you add being guided and fed by a guy who embodies southern charm, snookered we were not.   :bigsmyl:

Now to try getting back there...

Oh, man.  I am jealous!  Piggies sound like they'd be the ideal bow game.

I forget what my bow feels like without a gloved hand.    :dunno:

Even in the south....at 22 degrees the bow was in a gloved hand....lol, but it did warm to 40 in the afternoon!

Wow!  Thanks for sharing that.  (Misery likes company).  I spent the weekend chipping out frozen firewood and moving it indoors to thaw for burning.    "[dntthnk]"

My brother lived in Taylors, SC for 15 years or so and I got continual weather reports.   Bum.  Now he's in the Rochester, NY area.  Ha, ha.  Payback is a b!tc#.

A bowhunting friend of mine loved to tell of the time he was at a town not too far away where there used to be (maybe still is) an archery festival and on the last day they would release a farm piglet at dawn and the bowhunters would have at it for a pig roast.  PETA would have loved that.  Anyway, one year the pig procurement chairman outdid himself and got an adult Russian boar.  I guess Mr. Pig took his pound of flesh and scatterred and tattered the shooters before he went down.

Guess the ceramic boar hogs' magic wore clean off of em. I know you fellas had fun and thats a good portion of what its all about.Waiting on some pics. Since Bear Misser wont chime in tell me,,, did he and Thorny get into them? You planning on a return?

Bowspirit

Jeff saw the first two, and one or two more after that. Ken, I believe, happened upon the largest number of pigs...

The ceramic hog was with me the whole time Izzy, I cursed him out for letting me down, right after that I saw a good sized hog at 12 yards, but no shot!

Glad you fellas had a good time! I've never hunted down south and it's something I'd like to do in the future... God Willing.

I think he got skeered when the hog stood up and gave him that look "you owe me ten bucks"

I think Ken had 8 or 9 close for a few minutes
