i've been out for a rabbit hunt for the last 2 sunday afternoons. last sunday i went to a nice paddock that has heaps of big blackberry bushes. i spied a little one at the edge of one and snuck around the bush. when i saw it again i was about seven paces away. it was snoozing in the afternoon sun unaware of my presence. i drew and let fly with an arrow tipped with one of my home made blunts. WHOA! carnage is the word! this is what i found a few feet into the blackberry bush.

i went out again yesterday and on the way back to the ute i spotted this one before it spotted me. it went behind a small rock which let me get to about 15m. it came out from behind it and stopped long enough to let me shoot. i hit in the chest and with the whack it took off. i followed where it went and about 25m from where i hit it it was laying dead. lucky find really. usually they find somewhere to hide. but hey we all get lucky sometimes.

sunset sometime last weekend.

here's a little kitten i caught while hunting a few weeks ago. i was walking around a house on one property where i hunt and i saw it run into a small pile of branches. i dropped the bow and went after it. i pulled the pile apart and there it was.

Thank you for sharing your hunt with us Clint.

The old saying that "a pictures is worth a thousand words" certainly holds true.

Your blunts are "terminators" for sure!

Around here 'Home Made Blunts' carry a much different meaning, but can result in 'carnage' never-the-less.

rabbit rissoles last night, yum!

the blunt is just a steel field point cross drilled with 4mm welding rod inserted in the holes. you could make them any cutting diameter you want really. mine weigh 250gr. you can adjust the weight by chucking the point in a cordless drill and grinding it down to whatever weight suits your setup. they are a bit fiddly to make but i think they are worth the effort. they would be great on tree rats i reckon.  ;)

the best thing i like and the reason i made them is for the big diameter. it gives me a greater chance of hitting them. i've lost count of how many times i barely missed them or took hair off them.
