hey guys,i am going to order a thunderchild from Big Jim.i am having trouble picking my length and wood choices.i am 5'4" tall(i am vertically challenged)i also have a very short draw length,26".i really like the ziricote and dalmation ebony.Jim is out of it and is looking for more.i would like to see some pics of your thunderchilds or buffalos.i might find another wood i like better.please help, steve

centaur

Just get your order in the mill and then you can determine which wood you settle on. I have changed my mind a couple of times and BigJim is very accommodating. And, by the time your number comes up, he may have different choices that you can make. Each time I see one of his bows posted on TG, I have to reevaluate my choices. He doesn't make it easy to choose.
If you don't like cops, next time you need help, call Al Sharpton

thanks centaur, you are right about seeing bows and wanting them.everytime i see a new one,i want it.thanks buddy,i think i will go ahead and get in line.thanks, steve

Steve my buff bow is a combo of cocobolo and osage, with coco veneers for the back and osage veneers for the belly

BigJim cocobolo is top of the line

What I like is that osage gets better as it ages

Centaur is exactly right. I'd put-up pics of mine, again, but it's Dalmation Ebony/Ziricote, Gemsbok Horn, with a little Magic thrown in for good measure.   :goldtooth:

The great lines of the TC alone, lends itself
to be extremely attractive with nearly any color or combination. Adding in the eye for matching beautiful combinations and the highly skilled craftsmanship ends up captivating me each time I view a new TC.

Trying to decide may drive you mad. One consequence to keep in mind is that whatever you choose, it will be a work of art.

Seabass,Like Centaur said " GET YOUR NAME ON THE LIST" lots of time to worry about details. The No. of people on Jims list grows daily. If you wait much longer Jim could Grow you some Dalmation Ebony ! LOL
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

seabass

thanks steve,i was thinking the same thing brother.i think i saw your three peice on his site.very nice.i can't wait to get my own, steve

seabass

well guys i am finally on the list.i am gonna get dalmation ebony and zircote with gemsbok overlays on the riser and the tips.Big Jim is out of the dalmation ebony at the moment.i hope he finds some before it's my turn.wish me luck guys and thank all of you for your help, steve

As said before: if you're buying new, go ahead and get in line.

As for the length:

If you're 5'4" I would get a 54" purely for the "number matching" thing. I'm sure it will work well for you. I think mine is a 54" and I'm 6'2" with a 28" draw. It shoots great. As with anything you're buying from an individual, ask him what his recommendations are for you.

Good luck. I know you'll enjoy it. (Go ahead and get the takedown. You may want the feature later.)
