I just put a deposit on a Dan Toelke Super D.
I know they are well liked but can you share with me what you like. Maybe a picture or two. Tell me your likes or dislikes if there are any. Thanks

I have owned and or shot 5 of them,  from one of the very earliest to the latest.  They have no hand shock,  just a very mild "thump" and thats very slight and not unpleasant.  They are obviously quiet, and are dang fast for a D type bow, as fast as alot of heavier r/d types ive shot.

Fit/finish are perfect, as are all the Toelkes ive seen.  Great bows in every way,   no negative I can think of.

Lamey, your pictures are the reason I placed a deposit on a Super D. Dan had one in stock with my specs. 64" 57#@28" Ebony riser and Hickory veneers I think over Bamboo. The bow was taken off the inventory list after I contacted Dan and I forgot the core wood. It is a sweet looking bow. I can't wait. Thanks for the pictures.

Excellent craftsmanship. I mean top notch. Those bows are worth every penny.

I have never shot his super D.  I do have a Whip 64 inches. It is fastest, quietest bow I have ever shot ... and all my bows are real quiet or I let them go.  I test my bows with a Deci-meter by the way.  All my bows are 40 decibles or under at 10 yards from the shooter.  40 decibles is a quiet whisper.  My whip does not register on the decimeter at 10 yards!  Also, at 48 pounds with my 30 inch draw it casts a 515 grain arrow around 180 fps.  That is unreal preformace in my opinon.

All Dans bows look great, have excellent craftmanship are reasonably fast and QUIET!!  I doubt you would regret owning any of his bows.

Good luck,

Bob.

Awesome bow, smooth, beautiful to look at, deadly.   I enjoy the heck out of mine.   :archer2:

Can't give you any "dislikes" from my perspective.

I can reply once my Super D gets here later this week, or Monday, (the one in Lamey's pic)  :bigsmyl:

I've got two of Dan's bows...just got one in this week. I'm a big fan.

I have a Toelke Curlew that I will never part with it until my son is old enough to understand it's value. Craftsmanship is the best I have owned, and the best part is the performance matches the look.

Besides the bows, the customer service is top notch. The Toelkes are good people.
If it's in your way, move it.

How do you pronounce Toelke?

toe-l-key?
toe-l-c (toelk)

Thank you

I have one of Dan's Whips,64", 51 lbs. @28 draw. Top notch craftsmenship. Very quiet and good speed. No noticeable hand shock. I never have shot any of his other bow models. Dan is a great guy to deal with!

Matt Lamey said it pretty well in his earlier post ending with "no negative I can think of". Dan has made me whips, Take-down Recurves, Super Ds and and one Chinook and I can honestly say this describes everyone of them. That said, I primarily shoot a couple of Super Ds now and concerning "manners" they are exceptional by every measure. Additionally, a shorter Super D can be shot than other Hill Style Bows. As a plug, (and I am a shameless Dan Toelke fan)I was at Dan's place in September and shot a 64" 54 lb. all Myrtlewood Super D that he told me shot  "really special" and I found that to be an understatement. I believe it is still on his website.

HATCHCHASER

Smooth, quiet, quick, and well made.  Top of the heap in all aspects. No negatives.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

I agree with what everyone else has been saying.  Most of my experience is with the Whip/Classic Whip, but I did "borrow" a Super D from Dan for a few weeks to try out.  It was quiet, fast enough, quiet, very little handshock, quiet, beautiful.  Oh and did I say, QUIET!  Top notch craftsmanship is an understatement.  I'm notorious for going over my bows with a fine tooth comb and I'm hard pressed to ever find a fault.  I suspect you'll be floored by your new bow...Mike

Thanks everyone. That's what I thought and what I wanted to hear.
