Anything worthwhile in 1974

I see many of us on here talk about their favorite bow being built in the year of their birth. I see many collectible bows that are built in the 50's and 60's. Anything in MY year of 1974?

My choice for 1974 would be the Bear Super Kodiak.

My heavier (62lb at my draw length) Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet was built, best I can figure from the serial number and what I know about some other Jets, in 1974 (my birth year too!). I have 2 Jets and they are, HANDS DOWN, the best bows I've shot in 30+ years of shooting traditional bows (yeah, I got started early!). These bows were just WAAYYY ahead of thier time. Jack was a very gifted bowyer.

Have to agree with Lon for '74, though I'd add that Hill longbows bows were available. Unfortunately, '74 has nothing to do with my DOB... that would be Native American bows as used against Custer! :^)

Any of the bows from that era are good if in good condition, Bears, Ben Pearson, Shakespear, Browning,Damon Howatt. Just find one you like at a poundage you can handle, take good care of it and it will treat you right! Back then there were a lot of folks making bows.

Ooooo. A nice Ben Pearson Marauder take-down (the "knuckles" system) would be a collectable and shootable catch.

Lots of good bows from that era. Ryan's Jack Howard would certainly be up there but harder to find. Bear Super Kodiak would be at the top of my list, or a Damon Howatt Hunter.

Red Wing Hunter, Bear Kodiak Hunter or Grizzly - lots of great shooting and good looking bows!

I'll bet a "Wanted To Buy" ad in the classifieds would turn up some options.
