When do you tell yourself you love hunting but!!! Time to shoot a more effective weapon! 1 deer. 2 deer. 3 deer. so on. Just wondering what it take's to to question your shooting.
I know mine, just wondering?

When you don't have the confidence to just draw and shoot. If you are second guessing your equipment or ability it's best to work the kinks out on targets vs. live animals. My $.02

If you're shooting 1 deer, 2 deer, or 3 deer what is there to question? I'd say the weapon seems effective to me.

Lots of us chose to pick up a simple stick and string after having been successful at hunting using other methods. Although our reasons for choosing traditional equiment vary, I'd say that very few made the switch believing we'd find greater success than we did with a firearm or wheelbow. If puting meat on the table or horns on the wall is the priority then there are certainly more efficient ways to do it than with a recurve or longbow. That said, I'll take the satisfaction that comes from our choice of weapons over efficient any day.

If you NEED the meat, shoot whatever you must use to feed you and possibly the family.

I really don't need the deer/game, so I give myself a satisfaction level higher than any other in the sporting world by challenging myself to do better all the time with more primitive equipment. When I get around to learning to knap heads and cut down a tree for a stave I will use my own weaponry without hesitation! What I need is TIME

I'd just like to add..
When you are thinking of finally giving up..remember why you held on so long.

i shoot a longbow, recurve and compound.  no question about it im way more accurate with my compound and wont hassitate to shoot a deer at 40yds with it.  but im really wanting to hunt with trad gear. but i will not go after a deer until i reach the bar i set for myself.  if i cant hold a good group with broadheads shooting from a stand then ill keep bringing the compound until i can. once i can the compounds going to take a break.

if you make a bad hit on a deer, just try as hard as possible to find it and thats all you can really do. everyone will make a bad shot if they hunt long enough wether its a compound, trad bow or gun. stuff happens. but if you dont feel confident in hunting with your weapon use the weapon you do until you get the confidence.  shoot alot of 3d, from stands, on ground, different ranges, akwad positions until you can do good shooting.

if your out there injuring animals left and right. every shot then you are not ready and need more practice. no shame in going to something or confident n using until you get to the point where you feel confident with trad gear.
