Ok I got my first trad bow that I have owned this year for Christmas from fdlz58  in the classifieds. I got 9 arrows and it all came in the night before I flew home on R&R, so I did not get a chance to shoot it at all. Today was my first full day back and I got back just after lunch the day before. It has done nothing but rained since I got in. I still did not get a chance to shoot it. I had the bow strung all day on my desk just hoping I may get a chance to set up the target and shoot. Well night fall and  I take the bow back and arrows to my room, which is block and concrete  and well set the target up at 10' and shot 9 arrows ha so much for the rain. I hit about 3" high of my aim point but the arrows were touching. So for now 10' is my kill range for game.    
fdlz58 cant thank you enough for the bow and arrows, I am almost done with the book too.

We all appreciate your service for our country and hope you get a chance to shoot the bow outside soon.

I'm so excited you like the bow.  During the winter months my kill zone is about 20', the length of my garage.  What you can practice at that range is form.  You'll develop muscle memory and that's important as well.  So when the time comes next fall back in Kansas all you'll need to do is pick up the bow and your muscles will do the rest.  No thinking about it.  Just like shooting your weapon.

Hope the book is helping to figure some thing's out.  Be careful, those cedars will probably explode is you miss the target!

Jeremy I will get to the book on a later post. It has given me a lot more questions but I want to finish it and then reread some of it.

The good news is today it was over cast but now rain. I got all my work done and found out we have a storage container that is empty it is about 3 yards shy of 10yrds. I put my cardboard lam target I made in it and paced off about ten yards and shot 18 arrow. The first one was high and over the target but I was smart and put a bid piece of cardboard behind the target. It did not stop the arrow from hitting the wall but it did slow it so no damage. All my others were not too bad of groups I made a circle with my fingers and around all nine of them or more of an oval. I kept it  short today. I shoot finger on the compound but let me tell you the difference in let off and not is big. I think if I keep the shooting short say 18 arrow in the morning and 18 in the evening I will get the muscles toned and in a month I will be backing up to 15yrds. Once at 20 yrds  I will make a few more targets and have someone move them with my back turned and take one shot at each to get the distances down. for now 10 yard I could kill a deer with the group I had to day.
