Gentlemen, I need your help in obtaining step by step info on building self bows and the tools required. I am working with some young people who want to build their own bows but I haven't the slightest idea where to begin or what I will need. These are a great bunch of kids and they would appreciate any help you may provide. So what sources do you guys recommend?

Hi Ron,

There are some pretty good tutorials in the how to section of this site, they got me going when I started building bows.

Go to the Bowyers Bench section here. Also I think there are tons of books out there like, " The Bowyers Bible ", and , " The Bent Stick ".

Might be interested in a build along by 4est trekker called "So you wanna build a Bow" on Bowyers Bench. Board bows. Very detailed. On page 2 of that forum now.
Good luck,
ED

Thanks for the info and resources. I think I am going to see if I can get a copy of the Bowyers Bible. I wish I could say I was a novice at this but I think I am less than that. So instructions have to be very slow and detailed. I'm hoping the kids know more than I do and can lead the way in this project. I went to the Bowyers Bench but it all seems like a foreign language and I definitely need definitions and etc.

Take a look at 4est's build along. You can't get much more detailed and if you run into problems along the way someone will be happy to help. The materials are relatively inexpensive and readily available. Even if board bows aren't your interest a lot could be learned from that build.
Take care.

I've printed out all of the material mentioned here and will sit down and read through it New Years day. Once again, thank you guys for the help, it is greatly appreciated.
