Happy holidays fellow trad gentlemen and gentle ladies !

I was contemplating using the top of the climber as a tree seat....torges seat of type.....

Up In the real cold and wind of Ontario  I am driven to hang low to the ground for a little more comfort these days.

I seem to only go out on the windy days anyhow!

Anyone have some experience doing this ?

cheers to all

I use the seat from my Lone Wolf and it works great. Just strap it to the tree so it won't fall if you get up.

Just as easy to drag a stool and you can use the stool in blowdowns and sapplings. Tried using my climber top a few times but always felt I stuck out once I found a tree big enough to mount on.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

PEARL DRUMS

I use the seat for a seat and stand my platform up on its long edge and use it as a branch holder in front of me. Works great.

I actually have used my Lone Wolf Assault at ground level several times.. Especialy on a creek bank.. Using the platform gives you a nice flat and clean surface to stand on as well.

I also use the lone wolf seat from a climber. Works great and is lighter then plywood. I posted this pic last year and I think several people took up on the idea.

Here I'm using it early season this year.

I use my Lone Wolf climber seat alone all the time to hunt from the ground. Leave the seat pad and tree straps as it to use on the tree. Very stable and comfortable. The tree strap makes a handy strap across my chest, and I can carry my side-stalker type quiver the other way with bow in hand for no noise. Works like a charm.

Looks good, but have you considered a Niffty Seat. You can use it against a tree, rock stump etc. It's a single post fold up seat that packs small, you adjust the angle from the base for the most comfortable seat angle, I've fell asleep in mine
Most people get rich by making more money than they have needs, me, I just reduced my needs!

Jerry that is a pretty cool idea...

I am hunting a piece of sugar bush with some transition zones.... always tall trees around.....  hoping to get in a little closer to bedding and staying on the ground is quieter in the open bush...

LC-What does the Nifty seat weigh?  How long have you had yours and does it hold up well?

About a pound.  I carry mine in my belt, it stays out of the way till I nedd it.  Someone around here had the same idea about using the top of a climber as a seat.  Last year they stole mine, I found the bottom of the climber during turkey season.

horsehairhunter the deluxe seat weighs 2lbs. 10 oz. I just checked the website to see what it was.

Not a bad idea.If I'm ever forced to stay low I might  just try it.

Pavan and americanhunter7- Thanks for the info-think I'll try the Nifty Seat.....

I have done it and also used a hang on if the tree doesn't have a real big flair at the base.  That way I get my feet out of the leaves.  My lone wolf assault works real well for this with the leveling platform and seat.

Another Nif-T-Seat user.  I've had mine for probably 10 years.  I usually screw the 2 leg post segments together to sit higher off the ground, at 22" maybe.  (Be sure to get a model that lets you sit high with either one long leg post or two separate sections like mine.  You don't want to be stuck with a model that just has the 6" post.  That's not too comfortable to sit so low.) I carry mine in an old canvas Army satchel that I sling across my chest.  It's comfortable, pretty light and compact, and doesn't creak or make noise like alot of seats.
