here is a link to a previous thread with some photos of the "Climax".  These stands are really easy to hang, have a nice platform, fold up seat and are under $100. and they use a chain.

Before ya'll go and purchase the Cheapest stand you can buy, PLEASE check out the Treestand Manfacturers Assc. web site at  www.tmastands.com
This group tests terr stands to exacting specs.  I would never purchase a treestand that is not on their list of approved stands.
Just go to their web site and check out all the good stands.
Be safe in your stand.

Sadly, I feel compelled to add that "not cost an arm and a leg" usually = Made In China. I will try to pay the extra money for "Made In U.S.A" when I can. I truely think that there needs to be more thinking the same way. I'm just saying...

Bison Gear is a sponsor of TG and they carry the Loc-On Brand (Windwalker and Limit.) For the size, weight and $$ I like my Limit. I will be looking at getting a WW from Angelo soon.
Mommy, where does bacon come from??
Well, a pig sweetheart.
Well how does a pig lay bacon??

Daddy, what season is it?
Well, winter season honey.
No! What "hunting" season is it!!

creekwood, hear ya bud on the China deal...... However, where we live and hunt stands disappear quickly if you are not careful and the thought of some crackhead stealing my hard earned dollars forces me to buy cheapies.

Should have seen me trying to buy a wheelbarrow tire and grease gun made in the USA last summer !!! Try as I may I could not do it. I hate the Chinese junk we are being force fed by our politicians and robber barons these days ! I puke thinking about crying often rather than once in buying quality USA products versus Chinese junk. JMHO

I agree with whoever said "use only stands with chains". I have tons of squirrels by me, and they chew on everything...except chains !

Huntschool

I also like the chain concept but here is something I have found out...  Use chains when tree rats are present as stated above, however, when I am putting one up in a pine tree...  There does not seem to be a rat problem.  These are loblolly....

Bowwild... gotta love that "interspersion" of cover types and the edge (edge effect) created by it = travel, food, water, cover...  all within close proximity

I use API baby grand twisters. they are aluminum and fairly lightweight. when I was younger I used loc-on's but not anymore because I'm about comfort now! these baby grand's have thick seats with room to move around and are very comfy for long hours on stand! I also rigged up shoulder straps for hiking back deep! just love 'em! they are not pricey like lonewolf's and chippewas.
my 2cents anyways! thanks

Every stand I have is the Sportsmans Guide cheapo. They are only 29.99 right now. They use a chain, are not very heavy, and very simple. I have so many that I am constantly moving I just can't afford the custom brands when I have twenty or so at any given time between three states. I use ratchet straps to really snug them up tight. No squeaks, no rusting, I love 'em.
I hate the idea that they are surely made overseas at that price, but if given the chance to use them or nothing I have chosen the overseas cheaper model this time. I do not say this proudly, as I try to stay away from the Home Depots and Lowes of the world to help out the Mom and Pop local stores.
I know this one goes against my core values and I plead guilty. I have one Gorilla hang on and like it just fine....but no better.  If I had the dough to get all American made I would...but I just don't.

Well you have to give "Muddy" stands a try.  They make a steel hang on thats around $130 new, not on sale, thats great.  Has plenty room is adjustable for leaning trees, has a foot rest and the best seat out there. You can upgrade to aluminum for about $40, well made and a good price for a quality roduct.  RW

Ilove my Lone Wolfe Alpha. It's 8 #'s and coupled with LW tree sticks its a light and fast set up.  Not cheap but I bought mine on **** new for $149.  Hang on and leave it...I love Dicks $39 steel stands.  Easy to hang and dead quiet. I have 7 Screaming Eagles.  About the sturdiest stands but heeavy and a PIB to install just right.
