I wanted to try and make some wood arrows for my longbows and it defintaly was a learning experience for sure! I spent time on the phone with Tim at Braveheart, Ted at Raptor to try and get some much need advice from the pros. It was them that really deserve the credit for the guidence and expertise they provided me with.

It was a fantastic experience and even though it was a very "amature" job, I can honestly say that I had a blast making them and am looking foward to harvesting something with them. They fly great.

The shafts are 90-95# Surewood Doug Fir with a final weight of 750-760 grains. Some of the pictures show some arrows without tips on them, theses are for my broadheads I hope to be getting for christmas!      Hope you all enjoy the pictures of my first wood arrow journey. Thanks for looking..

Nocks tapered, and all set..

All stained and started cresting.. I got the drill idea from Rob DiStefano

Look great. Kinda fun isn't it? Nothing feels as good as building your own equipment.

Nice looking arrows. They are a lot nicer than my first batch. There is nothing better than getting a critter with arrows you made yourself.  Randy

Wow! They look great!

How much do you want for them? ((:

They look PRO to me.

OK that is a good start. Now make some in the 70# range and I will meet you and test them out.
I know you want to try your hand at more. I will even supply the heads.
NICE job buddy!

Once you get into to arrow making its all over! You will have 10 dozen arrows at any given time laying around! I cant stop, thats for sure. Good lookin' bullets.

You done good man.  Those look great.  Kinda fun and addicting ain't it.  I suspect you are now thinking about some a bit more "fancy".

Only 11..... I know that story. Twice I only had 10 ! Oh well, I now know that my, "bad ", arrow is the one that I will not fletch and use for my bareshaft. It is used to find the correct length bareshaft. I shoot a bareshaft while I am target shooting to confirm tune of both equipment and the monkey behind the string !

Ya did good bud for your first set. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future. As Huntschool said, now that you are hooked, buy some better arrow building tools and enjoy it even more. I need to buy a better crester myself right now. Trying to find a Spinrite so I can get those razor thin pin stripes I see on all the fine arrowsmiths here on the gang. Congrats again bud.

Perfect for your Bear Razorheads.  They look sweet.  Amateur I think not!

Beautiful set of arrows. I am very impressed this is your 1st attempt.  Gets additive! Before long you will have stacks of arrows and feathers everywhere. Great way to spend time when the weather gets nasty.
I wish I would of got my Phillips crester years ago. Bob at Whispering Winds has them. If you get into arrow building it is a great investment. Send us pictures of your next set please.

Awesome work!  Can you teach me how to do that?

That is one helluva first set man! Very nice. I've been slowly building my tool empire for making my own too. If you really get into it, consider getting a dowel maker from Veritas to cut you up some shafts out of board stock. Then you can use your home made spine tester and bam, you're really making arrows. Check out the Bowyer's Bench for a ton of great info.

Most impressive bud. Thanks for sharing.
