Got a hog hunt coming up and thought about using my pop up blind. It will only be a two day hunt so I was wondering if hogs freak at the sight of a new blind like some deer do?

Funny, I just posted a reply to a post that must have been deleted because my reply showed up here.  Sorry I can't delete this

I've had them freak out and I've had them pay no attention. I feel like I'm better off leaned up against a tree in a leafy suit.

Yeah that would be less noticeable. Thanks.

if its a fenced/payhunt it wont matter most likely, wild hogs in their wild habitat hate blinds as much or worse than deer.

Mint

Depends on the hunting pressure but I would brush that baby in no matter what. Good luck!

I agree with Biggie again. Can`t believe I said that. I would like the leafy suit in case the porkers came by to far I could try and put the sneak on them.RC

highpoint forge

Skip the blind, unless you can set it up in advance and let it air out, plus the shaggy suit will be fuuuuuun.

The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

If it's a short hunt I wouldn't use it, it may spook them. I rarely get picked off by hogs while hunting on the ground.Plus, if you see them out of bow range you can stalk them(like RC said).

Bjorn

I'd like to see Biggie wearing a leafy suit inconspicuously leaning against a tree!   :scared:

Hogs have amazing nozes and are extremelyt aware of their surroundings

Take a look at Buff's videos.  He has one where a pig almost comes in the blind with him.  Shot him point blank as he passed by the blind.  Imho you need to stay mobile to hunt hogs because you wont have em standing still for very long. They are as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof.  Leafy suit and a tree.     Best of luck.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

RC

Probably the times they freaked out with Biggie they were either hearing snoring or crunching....RC

I used a pop up in south Texas, and had hogs and javies all around.
Some close enough to touch with my bow.
Hogs are weird creatures, and who knows what will spook them.

I've found that with a little effort brushing in a popup is great for hogs.  I get a good crossing area or feeding area and set it up like I would for deer.  Taken a lot of hogs that way.

Hogs will tolerate most anything as long as there is zero human scent and little visible movement.

RPolk

I've not had much luck with blinds and pigs. Not so much that they sppok, but I always seem to be about 5 yards out of range. The majority of my success has come still hunting with my Ghillie suit.
