Rob DiStefano put that pic up of Chris and it really hit me.  I finally leaned back in my chair for the 1st time in 2 and a half days.

I have been very busy keeping up with all that has transpired since I got the news, and I just had to stop for a moment and enjoy that picture along with the memories of Chris.

In the past we have done things like this for members that have passed away.  There was the bow auction the Wensels did for Paul Schafers son, the selling of Jack Howard's bows for his widow, and LeRoy Carlson AKA 'Golden Hawks' daughter after he passed.  I was always amazed at the outpouring of support from the men and women of this site. I am overwhelmed at this time from the response of our tragic loss.  Chris certainly touched a lot people in his life here and beyond.

It also hit me what the members of Trad Gang mean to me and so many others.

You all are a feather in the cap of humanity.

I need to lean back again.....

"T" lean back my friend.

You've been a leader through thick and thin.

Take a breath and just know your tradgang family has the greatest admiration and respect for you.

God bless you brother!

If you didn't know before, you do now!

You're tops in my book.

I've never met or had any links to the Surtees family but this really hit me hard. Chris and Larry always stood out with their help and generosity to people on this site. I don't know if it's because I'm the same age as Chris or what but this has really shook me up. God Bless the Surtees and God bless all who have supported them. Especially you Terry! I know this has been extremely hard on you!

I've said it many times, being a TGer is like being part of a family.

That picture certainly inspires me to enjoy life as much as I can while I have it. Chris is very close to me in age (I am 2 years older) and I met him once on a hog hunt at Ray Hammond's so that picture was especially poignant.

Funny how you can connect with someone so quickly, but people with generous hearts and intergrity are obvious and we need more of them in life.

TG seems to be a rallying place for people like that. I don't know what the draw is specifically, the fact that Trad draws people who don't take the easy road or that when success is hard fought their is a kinship bond among those with similar experience or possibly the values and strident efforts of this site to respect all members. Whatever it is I am proud to be  part.

I will miss Chris in Solana and feel compelled to do something to honor him. I will eventually find that special way to honor him as I think many here will also.

Terry thanks for everything you do and are doing for his family. We all have our own troubles, but helping others is what makes TGers special in my book.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Terry,

You, Rob, and the rest of the "Gang" are why we're here. You are #1.

If there are 2 things in this world that connect people they are love ( Trad archery in this case ) and loss.

When there is an instance when a people can connect on both of these, emotions can run deep.

I didnt know Chris but it was sad news. Me being a teenager I dont know what I would do if I lost my dad. My prayers are with his family. The picture at the top made me "lean back" and to thank god for the blessing most of us have.

The feeling of hopelessness is a hard it to take.  I've never met Chris but have taken a wealth of information away from his post on this site as with others.  It's hard to fight the tears away so I just let them flow thinking I will feel better.  My thoughts are with those close to Chris and his family.

Chris was an inspiration to so many people throughout his life, and though he is gone from us now he will continue to inspire all of us to be better people for a long time in the future.

He won't be easily forgotten, and made such a difference for so many of us.  That is one heck of a legacy to leave behind.
