What a tribute to Chris, and what an outpouring of love and prayers!  May God be with all his family and friends and give them the assurance that they, no "WE" will see him again.  God grant them the peace that passes understanding, and surround and touch them with Your love and compassion.

I was lucky to get to hunt with Chris. We spent a few week ends chasing Gators and this past spring chasing turkeys. We will miss him!!

Like all of you here, Chris has been at the front of my mind since I heard the news this morning.  There is a real ache in my heart today, and I know it helps me to be able to see that I am not alone in my pain.  I am sure it is some comfort to Larry and the family as well.

Chris was a very special man, and it is obvious from reading every single one of these posts how many lives he has touched, either in person sharing a camp, buying, selling and trading, or his always thoughtful and insightful posts here.

As I thought of Chris all day, I felt so bad for the things he will miss.  I know how much he was looking forward retiring next year and having even more time to spend doing the things he loved so much, with people that he truly loved.

When I really think about it though, Chris was a very lucky man, and got everything there was to get out of the time he had with us here on earth.  He had the well earned respect of everyone he came in contact with, and will live on in our memories with honor and admiration.  We should all hope to be so fortunate.

I regret that I was only able to share one precious camp with him, but I am forever thankful that I at least have that one to remember him by.

Farewell my friend.  I am proud to have known you.

While I did not know Chris personally,  I enjoyed his reports on his hunting and fishing adventures here on Trad Gang.  Over the years I have had a few e-mail exchanges with him, and my daughter and I were blessed by some good deals made with Chris.   My family and I have been offering up prayers for Chris, his family, relatives, and friends throughout this day of mourning.

Chris's death *is* a loss - a major loss - and healing takes time...precious time....  My family and I will continue to lift all of the Surtees up in prayer throughout this Season of Advent and on in to the New Year of 2011.

I know that Chris would want every one of his family members and friends to receive the gifts of strength and courage that only our Lord can provide in order to get through this ordeal and continue to move on and prosper with new experiences and friends throughout their lives, just as Chris was blessed with tremendous experiences and friends in his own short time here on earth.

Rest in peace Chris!

And may the grace of God's peace rest on all of his loved ones!

Sincerely in Christ, David Camp
