Is a 58in bow to short for a29+in draw? Or does it depend on the bow? Thanks Burt

I think it depends on the bow.I think some guys that are ground blinding are loving bows like Big Jims "Thunderchild" which is a short bow.Big Jim would be a good one to talk to about this.Good guy that really knows his stuff.

I have a 29"DL and the 58" bows are my prefered,but I can shoot down to 50".I find the 60 incher a tad too long.

I have a Bear Super Grizzly AMO is 58". I draw 29". I shoot two finger split. No finger pinch and no stacking of the limbs at full draw. I could go farther on the draw too.

My opinion is you should be OK.

I have a widow sa11 that is 60in.And Ilove it but it"s a recure. I want to get a L.B. do you think there"s alot of difference? Burt

Could also look into a Caribow "Wolverine". They are a 58" longbow.

Check out the sponsor classified. Protege Longbows has a special going on and has the references for your draw on his website. Depending on the risser length and limb length you can easily get your draw out of a 58" bow.

There are far too many great bows out there to list all the possibilities. There may be far more that you won't see eye to eye with. Trying before you buy is by far the best approach. Being that it may, many don't have the opportunity to try before they buy. After taking in all the feedback and information from other related threads, I would highly recommend speaking with the bowyer and listen carefully to his suggestions and recommendations.

Maybe for a 3 piece LB you'll be better with 60",less if it will be a one piece or 2pc.

Talk to a bowyer that makes them.  Neil Jacobson of Bear's Paw Bows makes a longbow that is 58" long, and a very sweet shooter!!!

I have three 58" bows and one 56" bow. These are the lengths I prefer but my draw is shorter than yours.  I think the bowyer is your best advice giver on this topic. They have lots of experience with their customers and they want you to be a satisfied buyer.  From most of the charts I remember seeing, 58" wouldn't be recommended by many bowyers who offer 60 and 62" bows.

A recure would be easy to find in 58" with a 29" draw, but there are not as many 58" and shorter LB's for long draws.  A shrew classic hunter is one of the best.  One or two piece with short riser and probably forward handle would be the best things to look for in a short LB.  There are for sure a few that will work for you.  Just do some looking.  I had a 58" lost creek and drew it over 29" and it shot better than the 60" LC I had.

Of course.....I just read the post about shorter longbow/draw legth and asked this VERY question. I too draw 29" @ 5' 7" and want to get a set of shorter limbs. So thanks for the info.  

look into Cascade's line of recurves. Hes got short bows down and no your long draw wont be left out!!

Check out St. Joe River bows. Tracey and Dave make a sweet little recurve that will handle 29 inches with no problem.

Check out the Kanati. I draw my 58"'bow past 29"'and there is no stacking at all. I bet you could go to 30".

I have owned alot of 58" bows over the last few years and to be as honest as I can be I shoot a 62" lonbow a heck of alot better than a 58" bow of the same maker. I draw 29" and the 62"er's seem to pull a ton smoother and feel more comfortable to me. I do have a 58" thunderchild due any day now so I will see how that compares but I would have gotten that longer if he offered it longer!
