So I live in Canada and a lot of our season it's cold, too cold for bare hands. In the past no issue with compound or xbow. Next year I'll be using recurve only and it just dawned on me, I've only ever shot a recurve with bare hands and fingers. What do you guys do to keep hands warm? One of those hand muffs, or just big mitts and take them off at go time?

I have the "no gloves" rubber finger pads on my lighter bow.  I can wear a mitt and get to the string easily.  I'm going to try it on my heavier bows.  I like it with no glove or tab.  Besides that, a muff or a pocket with a handwarmer.

green ARMY wool glove liners. Just make sure you have a leather handle, or it's way to slick.  I cut off the three fingers on my glove hand,and it works down to 30 degrees for me.

The only problem I have is the finger that actually holds my tab gets way colder. I guess the circulation is reduced with the elastic band around my finger.

Magnus is sending me a Howard Hill style glove and I'm going to give it a go to see if I can keep all my fingers warm.(Thanks Magnus)

I will be breaking out the hand muff soon as our temps will drop down to single digits this coming week. (way too early for this kind of cold)

I love tyo hunt late season and I use gloves and cut the 3 finger tips out for leather glove  and use a hot hand  if needed.

This is one of the reasons I use a tab (probably couldn't use a shooting glove anymore if I tried). I seem to do OK with a pair of fleece gloves (maybe a mitten on my bow hand) and a couple of hand warmers in my pockets when it's really cold. The glove on the string hand with the tab doesn't throw my shot off. In cooler weather if I need a light glove the standard cotton work gloves work OK for me as well.

Generally sit in stand with hands in pockets.Can't get used to wearing gloves.

Pocket warmers inside a hand muff have worked well in the past.

A good muff and hand warmers will keep you good to go my friend!   I hate gloves (Except for dragging).   When it's about 30 Fahrenheit here, I use 4 handwarmers... Your mileage may vary...

I shoot with a tab.  Up until it gets really cold I just wear a pair of gloves with the three shooting fingers cut off on my string hand glove.  

When colder temps hit I wear a pair of those "glovemit" things with the finger mitts that flip back out of the way.  

It took me awhile to get used to it, but but have learned to shoot pretty well with it.  

I practice daily during hunting season wearing the same gloves I will be using in the stand.

Tab.  I have a fleece lined pouch I wear on my belt if it's just a bit cold.  If it's very cold Glomitts.  If it's below 20° I put wool fingerless liners in the Glomitts.

 

 

I make big unshorn sheepskin pockets that tie to my outer thighs, got the idea from Paul Brunners old Echo Outdoor Enterprises catalog. They called them "wooly boogers."  I make them with a belt loop up top and just rawhide lace through the bottom to tie around my leg so they don't flop around. Put handwarmers in those and I dont even keep a glove on my tab hand. Its also a HUGE advantage during cold weather 3D shoots.
Otherwise I have the same setup as Stumpkiller when its cold, but not BRUTALLY cold.
My circulation sucks when the temp dips.

I use a wool glove with 3 fingers cut off and put my shooting glove over the top of it, a full glove on the other hand. If it's really cold hand warmers go in my pockets,can sit all day if I can keep my feet warm.

I wear thin poly or thermax glove liners with fleece or wool fingerless gloves over the liners and i use a tab.
If hands can be placed in pockets ocassionally these are good to the teens. Any colder add hand warmers.

I use a tab. I have poor circulation in my hands and get cold at 50. So when it gets really cold I wear a thin latex (surgical) glove and then a pair of wool glove mittens flip type) over them.

Note, only put the laytex gloves on once you sit up. If you have them on and sweat in them your hands will freeze. I have been in -5 and above and my hands have been nice and warm.
