Kind of a dissapointing end to an otherwise great season (although there is still 2 weeks left) I went out to the farm I have permission to hunt, and the guys who gun hunt it decided that since their season is over, it would be a great time to start clearing the swamp area up. Well, needless to say, there wasn't one deer track in the snow on the property, and with the storm we have approaching, this would have been an awesome night to put a tag on something.

If anyone is interested in going out of state (but still in the United States) to go hunting in 2011 and beyond, get ahold of me and we will set something up. I would love to do a western hunt for mule deer, antelope or elk, South Dakota for Bison...and not to forget...a pig hunt down south.  I don't care if I have to drive or fly, we'll figure something out.

I just can't bring myself to go to one of those high fence ranches to go grocery shopping. None of us are getting any younger, so the longer we wait, the less we are going to be able to do.  There has to be someone else out there just like me.  Now that I think of it, the world would be alot better if there were others out there like me.  LOL

I trully believe that the Michigan DNRE has really fouled up the hunting in this state. It all starts with the early gun season in September. Then there is the 500,000 doe licenses in the southern 3rd of the State they are selling to lower the herd to...in my opinion...please the Insurance Companies. I don't know what the answer is, but all the "early" seasons do is change all the habits of the deer sooner than nature would.

Yes this is a little bit of a rant, but it is also an invitation to any of you longbow/recurve guys who might be interested in getting out of your state and just needed that little bit of a nudge to get the ball rolling. Let me know who is interested, and what you would like to go do. Let's go hunt something together.

Im interested, but it wont happen for at least a few years Grapes, money is at a premium in this state same as the deer are getting to be! I shot a gorgeous buck with my curve, only because it was the one and only deer to give me a shot after 35-40 hunts. A 3 point or a doe would have sufficed as well.

How long of a trip are you figuring going on?  I have one set, just not paid for yet in October, but could possibly swing a Florida hog hunt if the price is right.  It's always good to go with others, as gas is much cheaper that way.

Checkout my thread on Hawaii on the PBS website.  It can be pretty inexpensive to hunt Kauai if you do it right and find a decent air ticket price.  Its -5 at my home in Alaska today so I have my thoughts on Pineapple-land!

I looked at hunting pigs on Oahu when we were there this past Easter, but the prices were a little hard to swallow.  So I opted to take my oldest (6 at the time) shark fishing, and we caught 2 galapagos sharks, and a threasher shark.  The only mistake I made, and wish to heck I didn't do it, was to show him the movie Jaws right before we went there.  Funny now, but at the time, he kept saying "we need a much bigger boat dad".  There were a ton of goats on the big island north of Kona when I was there in 2003 for our honeymoon, but my wife wanted to sightsee instead of hunt.  Oh well, momma has to be happy too.

I took a nice 300# boar with Don Hebert just over the border from you in NB. That was 7 years ago.

There are loads of options available.  I need to get with all my hunting buddies now and figure out what we all want to do.  I'm always willing to join in with others too if you need a spot filled.  Thanks for all the leads guys.  I really do appreciate it.
