Killed a ten inch cedar tree!

Yep.  Hands down the biggest doe I have ever laid eyes on.. Coming in with two trailing her and stops where I had walkied into my stand and starts sniffing th ground.. Not alarmed, but stops  right behnd a cedar tree. I draw expecting her to walk on. She doesn't and I know she is gonna see me let down, so if I'm gettin busted lettin down might as well get busted shootin between two trees. It's a kill or miss shot.

I let go and miss the gap by 3/4 in burying my broadhead in the edge of a ten inch cedar.

No animals were harmed in the production of this hunt.

Did you get some good penetration on that cedar Robert?

Mudd

A friend of mine killed one last season.

He said he was shooting at a small buck so I asked him why I was trying to pull out his broadhead which was at least as high up in the tree as my shoulder...lol

He admitted that it was a very tall deer...lol

The tree refused to give up his broadhead so it remains as a reminder to pick a spot and preferably on the deer.

God bless,Mudd

bad arrow

While missing a fox squirrel a few weeks ago,I embedded a Delta Zwickey into the very base of a 100+ yr.old white oak. I hope I haven't hastened the demise of that stately old tree....Phil

I think you have same problem we face around here,Magnetic trees!

Izzy

I blew the same "through the fork" shot a while back. My broad head is still in that tree 20 years later.

greyghost

Thats all one can do is laugh about it and share with others.

I think I could of built a log cabin in my life the trees that I have harvested over the years.

Robert, good story, you should have cut the cedar tree, and aged it for Veneers on a new bow..

magnus

Use vice grips on the head just tight enough so you can jiggle it to pull if out.

I practice that shot all the time, luckily judo's come out much easier    :goldtooth:
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I have too and I still do at least once a year it seems like. I dont even bother trying to dig them out anymore as it usually still bends them up....look at it as a sacrifice to the arrow gods....gets a bit pricey with abowyer whitetails.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!
