Just a thought, how about doing one large thread for the xmas wishes? It would make the forum less crowded I'm guessing  :)

Well I'll give it a go, and see what happens  :)

From the Fjords and Mountains of Norway, Merry Xmas to you All,
and thanks for an great and informative TG year!

Hope you and all your families are well!

I agree with RC, that X shows disrespect.

Merry CHRISTmas everybody

TRB

I think the X is a Greek symbol for Christ. Don't want to stir the pot, but I think that's where it came from.

Merry Christmas

The name "Christ" is indeed spelled with the Greek chi (X) as the first letter.

Merry Christmas to all of the Gang.  :campfire:

First off......Merry Christmas to all you fellow Tradgangers!  May your hearts and souls be filled with joy!

Second.....for you folks that may not be aware (RC and SSWV - I'll pick you out since you chose to add the negative comments on this otherwise good post of Svein's) of the not only the "intent" of Xmas or the actual usage, I'll provide a bit of a history lesson:

Xmas has been used for hundreds of years in religious writing, where the X represents a Greek "chi", the first letter of Χριστος (Kristos), "Christ." In this use it is parallel to other forms like Xtian, "Christian." But people unaware of the Greek origin of this X often mistakenly interpret Xmas as an informal shortening, pronounced (ĕks'məs). Many therefore frown upon the term Xmas because it appears to them a mere commercial convenience or a slighting of their interpretation when one omits Christ from Christmas.
