I am trying to figure something out and I think I know in general the answer but I thought I'd be smarter(not-likely) to ask for help.

If I am considering a longbow(HH Robin Hood Special) that will have some string follow built into it what could I expect picking  between two possible bow lengths (N-T-N) 68" or 70".

I'm guess that the string follow would come more into play with the longer bow since my draw length remains the same regardless of bow length. 68" limbs would be worked more than 70"(is that right?)

I like my Big 5 that's 68" and 50@28 so I am assuming I same stay at the same draw weight

This is one thing I am considering and if there are others I should be thinking about, what might they be?

You're essentially right Mudd, but you haven't given all the useful info, like your height, your draw, poundage, weight of arrow you hope to use, use for the bow, etc.   Speaking very generally, shorter limb = a touch more speed, longer = a wee tad smoother draw.  Also bear in mind that, again in general, string follow = a bit of loss in speed but a bit of gain in smoothness and in forgiveness.   You know I'm not shy in giving opinions 8^)   Shoot me an email and I'll give you my phone number and chat with you as much as you like.  rwightman@mindspring.com   As you also know, I'm eagerly waiting for my Robin Hood.  Craig told me yesterday he's starting it next week.

I like my Big 5 that's 68" and 50@28 so I am assuming I same stay at the same draw weight. I like to shoot 10 grain per lbs arrows, 50-55 or 55-60 spine.

Mudd, with my reflex Hills style bows i tend to shoot 68"s for my 27" draw ... for my string follow Hills style bows i use 66"' bows .

I think I'm number 13 ... yes i requested with Craig to get that number lol !

Plus its a Robin Hood special edition ... it'll match your hat !

I feel a little ignorant.

If I order a bow at 50@28, I know that either length bow will draw the same weight at 28 inches but will the limbs be more involved at 68"? If they are how will that translate into performance?

Each bow is tillered to that lenth.The averge person can tell or shoot well enough to tell the difference in speed or forgiveness.
  This is far from set in stone.Just my opinion.I've built selfbows for 20 years.You can't in selfbows and fibberglass is far more uniform.Which would make it even harder to tell.

I think if there were any difference in cast it would be very very little but would be more forgiving at the longer length.Splitting hairs I believe.I would go shorter for a bit more ease of ground blind shooting...again a very little change.RC
