I shoot a martin Hatfield 55# at 28" take down and I have noticed that the limbs do not perfectly make contact with the riser. As a matter of fact this is more evident when the bow is strung. I do not believe it impede performance but I was wondering if this is due to the fact that the faces of the riser and the limbs have not been sanded properly at the factory. Anything I can do?

I would contact Damon Howatt (they made all the Trad bows for Martin). I have called them a few times with questions and they were very halpful. I even got to speak with Larry Hatfield. He's the person that particular bow is named for. Good luck.

If you have the ball bearings, the limbs will not contact the riser.  At least on mine they do not.  The limb rides on the bearing.

Are both limbs the same distanse from the riser.Some times on limbs they sand the angle different to get the poundage right.If the limbs are heavyer than needed.If they have a surplus of those # limbs at the time.I got new limbs once and was told if I wanted to increase my weight to at shims under the tops of my riser.
 I shot a hatfield for 6 years.Before I stared building selfbows 20 years ago.I love mine.
