I don't want anyone's hunting spot, I am just wondering if anybody is seeing them and what part of Ohio they are seeing them in.

I hunt Monroe and Washington counties, I have not flushed one in years.  I hear them drumming from time to time, but no sightings of them at all.
Is the whole state like this???
What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

I saw 2 in 100 days of hunting Wayne this year. Can't really say that's a huntable population.

If anyone could put me onto a mess of'em, I'd do my best to pay them bunches of money!

I haven't seen one in Hocking county in the last three or four years. But, I don't have any new growth foilage around either.

Yep, random sections of clearcuts, that's the ticket! Any ideas where?

I would have thought you guys would have them in Hocking county.  That place is just to beautiful not to have them.  Sad!!!!!

One of my business clients is an avid grouse hunter. He keeps no fewer than 6 English pointers in his kennel all the time. He is a complete grouse hunting animal, and he's recently retired. His favorite hunting destination is Wisconsin. He and his friends bring back ice chests loaded with grouse. He's told me a couple times he'd rather bass fish in November that try to find an Ohio ruffed grouse. They are generally scarce even here in SE Ohio.

I used to grouse hunt, and I've had several friends who hunted them. I think it's great exercise, but in terms of productivity it's a loser. You'd have a about as much success bowfishing for armadillos.

I've seen a few in Harrison co. A couple of guys I work with jump a few on there lease. Same county. Not enough to go after though in my opinion. State released pheasants can be fun though.

I have access to a piece of property in Carroll County.  I bumped 2 last spring just walking around for an hour or so and we heard them drumming while turkey hunting.

I am from Michigan and to hear and see those again is tremendous.  I will not be hunting them on that property.

Need to just enjoy them, and possibly do some predator hunting to keep them going.

Growing up in Muskingum Co I used to see quite a bit. The last 10 yrs or so they seemed to have vanished. The coyotes have exploded so I am guessing that they are the reason.

I saw one while stump shooting two years ago.  That's the first grouse I've seen for close to 20 years.  I would guess that the growing coyote infestation has taken care of most of them.

Grouse and squirrels are always fair game when still hunting with my bow. Several snuffers are slowly being absorbed by branches and trunks as we speak.(gotta remember to carry more judos)
