I read somwhere that wool doesnt' reflect light it absorbs it. That in itself is enough to sell me. I love wool, I'm fascinated by it and after all the man made commercial stuff, God still makes the best camo out there. Although if Charlie ever markets his camo (after he finds it) I'd probably buy some! HA! Jason

Here is me in October, I wore this because it is a little lighter than my cabelas outfitter jacket, I dont mind the plaid but I like my cabelas outfitter pattern, and my wool camo patterns a little better, in this picture i have a sleeping indian hat on i would like to have a full set of this but its so expensive!

I mix and match, some camo some not. I'm liking my vintage wool plaids more all the time and when my camo stuff is gone it's gone. The Pendleton wool jacket in the pic's is older than me. It kept me warm today and I think the plaid stuff blends in as well as camo most times.

  I'm suprized it isn't in an antique shop somewhere...Sure like the looks of that one and the one I got looks a lot like it with a double yoke(thought that was only in eggs)and nice low pockets as well...  

I want to be free to choose whatever I like that day,it can be camo,usually ASAT,Predator or KOM,or plaid or solid earth tones.Ron La Clair is right when he says never seen a plaid tree but lot of grey yes.

I have lots of both and wear lots of both as the seasons and temperture change.I find myself wearing more wool as it makes me feel more apart of nature rather than an intruder.I really like all the qualitys and the afordability it offers.

RLA I think that picture taken by your wife speaks volumes. I'd say she has the hots for you!...lol I bet she was thinking of how good her hubby looked.

When I was a youngster(back a couple of years ago) I hated to wear anything wool. I didn't like to have to use the wool blanket on our bed.

But the older I get the more I love the stuff.

Charlie I was wondering?? so what does it mean when I wear my plaids to the woods but don't change out of them when I get home?

Something I do have to admit to is I don't like it when folks(anybody) can tell I'm going to or coming from hunting. Why? I have been followed and I don't like it.

Another reason is the non-hunting public in general. I'm always a little turned off myself when I run into someone fully camo'ed out in Wally world.(maybe it's just me being quirky)

BTW I loved plaids, they show off just how in shape I am(round is still a shape right?)...lol

I like wool plaid, and I like camo, depending on what I am doing.
I don't recall my uncles or grandpa using camo at all.
Deer don't know the difference, if you practice sound hunting practices, and don't smell bad.

I love wool,solids and plaids. It just feels right.    

I like the plaids and I have camo.  It depends on the temperature and whatever strikes me that day.  My hunting buddies call this my "60's Field & Stream" look.

 

I had some really good stuff but some young Brittish kid with round glasses took it. I tried to get it back but he keeps wearing it and I can't find him.

Then it would be black or invisible.  We see things as a certain color because they have absorbed the other wavelengths of visible light.  Black is the color of things that do not emit or reflect any lightwave of visible spectrum.  White means it doesn't absorb any or emits them all.

D&DH had an article on what Deer saw as in the spectrum of colors , I believe based on the way their eyes were made up . The conclusion was that Deer could only see shades of blues and yellows and everything else was similar to black and white contrasts .

stumpkiller, i believe covey is correct....not visible light spectrum but the reflectivety of the fabric....ie. camo colored aluminum foil clothing would reflect where wool fabric "absorbs" rather than reflects because of the many fibers....just like hair of deer etc.

I wear both! Usually a plaid shirt with a camo vest over it and camo pants!

Sounds better the way you put it    . I think it was G. Fred Asbell that had an artical in TBM about wool. Fred's been wearing wool longer than I've been alive, if it works for him it works for me! Jason
