How many wear some type of chest protector to keep their clothing out of the way of the bowstring.  I have been using camo suspender but that only works with the right clothes combo.  Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do the correct it?

I have a very open stance and have not had any problems yet. If you hunt in very cold weather bulky clothes might be a problem.

I use a light Vest in warmer weather and a wool vest in the colder times, old sock on my arm above elbow. this works good for me.

It is the bulky clothes that is giving me the trouble.

My wife but "she needs to wear one". lol

Don't the olympic archery folks wear a chest protector? I always see them wearing achest protector with a hoyt or Win&win logo. Pup

I wear a chest protector for target archery. If I have bulky hunting gear, I wear a vest that is a little tight on me that has some give to it.

I don't need one but I know that you can use a piece of a bed sheet (12" wide) and wrap it around your chest(or a 8-10" ACE bandage) like the orientals do to keep clothes from getting in the way when working.Worse case you can go to goodwill and get a old school corset, your hunting buddy may appreciate it.

I'd love to see a line of archers in corsets....sounds like a St. Judes auction pic

I have the same problem. I use a stretch arm guard above the elbow and my bino buddy helps keep the armpit pulled in. Also have take 1/8" bungy cord with a small snap hook and ring stretched around the chest to help keep coat in.

I use a safety pin in the upper arm of bulky clothes helps keep it out of the way, when its cold and I'm wearing bulky coat I put safety harness on last, helps compress chest area. I used to use old style safety belt and put around my chest, that worked great, if not in treestand you could use an old cloth belt around chest, like a chest protector only cheaper. Todd

Only time it becomes a problem is when it gets cold, so I layer instead of wearing heavy bulky layer. one layer of silk, one layer wool then wool outer and wool vest with wool pull over that fits close and I stay warm with no problem with bow string contact.
Bowhunting is a passion, not an obsession. Its just hard for my wife to tell the difference sometimes.

I've used a Neet Chest protector for years... just a mesh one in black... helps keep bulk down a little... simple to slip on and strap up... run less than 20.00 and squash down into a little package and slides in the daypack...

Looks a lot like this one from 3 rivers...

I must have an open stance and rarely have ever caught up on anything except a sleeve.  I have and do wear some heavy wool overshirts which do tend to be baggy at the top.  I have found the easiest and cheapest way to deal with it: A bag of large rubber bands are easy to carry, simple to replace, amazingly adjustable and very cheap.  You can't beat them

Open stance here too but I typically have binos on a stretchy harness on my chest.  That probably helps a bit.

It is what's under the clothes that makes my clothes bulky!   :bigsmyl:

I have never worn one. I'm careful to keep the bulk down and clothing zipped, buttoned etc.  I always proof my readiness by practice drawing all the directions and angles while on stand.
