The flight of an arrow is #1 but knowing I can walk in the woods and collect everything I need to make an effective hunting weapon is a close second. After living through a few years of gadget powered archery the simplicity of trad bow hunting is what peeked my interest to begin with.

The day afield with a longbow in hand , wearing a back quiver full of cedars ,  loosing my handmade arrows at whatever target presents itself, the stump, the wind thrown leaf , the rabbit atop the rockpile just ahead ...
The writings of Pyle and Hill , the photo's of Swinehart in Sagittarius that made a young kid dream of far away adventure , Tolkiens forests , Errol Flynn with yew bow in hand on the saturday afternoon TV movie as a young kid ...
The connection to something aside from bills, the office ...
The promise of campfires in mid winter, the coffee steaming hot as the fire flickers shadows on the bow and quiver hanging from the tree near by ... the camaraderie that can only be found in like minded archers
the chance at taking game on what I consider fair terms ...

Perfectly tuned arrows flying perfectly through space, regardless of point of impact I love watching perfect flight with zero wiggle waggle. It is my ultimate goal with each and every arrow shot.

I just got the " trad" bug. But what got me, is the bows them selves. The wood in some of these are unreal.And the bows are a work of art.My goal is to build a bow myself but I will start using other artist pieces.(morrison now and a big jim hopefully to come)Then to try and harvest an animal with something as basic as a stick and string and one you built youself. I cant think of any thing any else. I think I got this "trad" bug bad.
