I saw a partridge hunt on You Tube and thought how much I would enjoy a hunt like that even if I had to drive 8 hours.

I want to know what other inexpensive hunts are available yet often overlooked.

Grouse hunting is great fun. We have Ruffed,Spruce and Blues and even a few Ptarmigan. A bunch of flu-flus with judos or hex heads and you are in for a fun afternoon. Also they are much easier to pack out than a Moose.     Bob

Frogs, my kids love deep fried frog legs.

For small game bowhunting, nothing beats arrowing bullfrogs and they're great eating.

Love to hunt Rabbits in the late season snow, and we have good supply of Grouse as well.

We also have an abundance of tree rats so many so that they are pests. I will take shots at them with any thing handy; slingshot, bow, pellet rifle, riot gun, AR, or throw rocks and insults if I need to.

Seriously, back to your question Charlie, Rabbits they are a lot of fun and even more so if you got a few Beagles with.

I'm going on an archey-only rabbit hunt in December. It will be my first time rabbit hunting since the 70's. My friend says rabbits will be very numerous and we're all going to take climbing tree stands to get about 5-6 feet above the ground while the dogs run. This will keep our arrows in the ground and help us see the bunny.  I don't know if the hunting area is a Christmas tree farm or a tree nursery -- both have lots of rabbits and like to have em thinned.

I have shot several squirrels while deer hunting but I plan to purposefully hunt them this winter with  my recurve.

I frog-hunted when I was a kid. I used bowfishing gear and like Night Wing wrote, it was a lot of fun. When that ole bull frog jumps in the pond and thinks he's safe, its great to shoot him between the eyes as he floats. Of course it is better not to spook him into the pond.

well, my brother and I go stump hunting, does that count?

Groundhog (woodchuck). The smaller ones are very good eating. Taste to me like veal. We bread coat ours and then fry them up.

I enjoy the hunt and enjoy eating rabbit almost as much.

Squirrels are fun too!

I have yet to try archery goose but it's on my bucket list. The only bird I know anything about hunting are longbeards.

Chipmunks In the yard. They're hard to hit but when you do it is very saticfiying. Good practice too. I've got 2 this year.

Rabbit hunting with beagles. Even if you don't get a shot or miss, at least you have fun watching the dogs work.

I live in Maryland and am embarrassed to say I've only been Sika Deer hunting twice. This year I was lucky enough to shoot a spike stag. A very interesting and inexpensive hunt for a unique animal. They're really a member of the elk family and bugle during the rut. I forgot my camera    so I'm waiting to get some of the pics back from my buddies. I hope to post them once I get em.

I love all the hunts that have been mentioned so far. One not yet mentioned that is a ton of fun is a bow fishing trip to a place with lots of big carp and or Gars. Heck, I've seen some pics from guys on here with huge piles of fish taken in one day.

I have shoot way more grouse and small game than big game for sure. Each year I look forward to small game season. Last year was one of my best grouse years ever. I had several days with full bags of birds. Thanks for sharing.  

I goose hunted with a bow back in the early 1980's.  On one hunt I was hiding behind one of those old-time satellite dishes in the big yard of a lake house.  The geese were coming in to the yard right after dawn. I was pumped. Then, the homeowner came out to the patio and began shaking a Maxwell house can full of corn. I asked here what she was doing -- she was trying to help me shoot a sky carp (Canada Goose).  Of course I had to pack up and leave because baiting waterfowl is quite illegal.

Another time goose hunting, same era, I sat on a field edge with a bunch of fellows who were using shot-guns. I had a quiver full of flu-flus and one without. My buddies asked what the regular arrow with broadhead was for. It was my sky-busting arrow!
