Hi Gang.
Does the bow I'm looking for even EXIST?

I'm looking for a bow that's 57" or shorter when strung.

Pulls about 45-47# at 25-26"

And will shoot a 540grn arrow ( about 12grn/# )
around 165+fps.

Seems all I can find shoots closer to 140-150.

Maybe I'm looking for unobtainium.

If anyone knows of such a critter let me in on it please...lol

Thanks

Sixby

John , the draw length is the problem. Not enough string time. I would bet though that my static Talon onepiece would come as close as anything because it has a 6 3/4in brace . It is 56 in. Also the SheepEater might do it. god Bless you , Have a great Thanksgiving, Steve

It doesn't exist!  Your draw length hurts you.

Check out my specs below in my signature. I'm shooting with a relatively short draw with my Pittsley Predator recurve. I'm shooting very close to the setup you mentioned and am getting 161 FPS with wool silencers on the string. This bow is one of the fastest bows out there. I am shooting a tad more weight with a fraction of an inch more draw and a 60 inch bow and I still don't quite get the 165 you're after. Another bow that is very fast is the Centaur Carbon Elite longbow. It could very well be the fastest longbow there is.

So, to answer your question, no it doesn't exist.

Contact Bruin Bows. Talk to Mike. Bet he can set you up. I have one that is 57" 50@ 28. It shoots in the high 180s at my 28 draw. If mike cant help you out. I might sell the one I got. But will have to shoot it thrugh a crono at your daw first. Mike makes great bows. I just like longer bows. joebass@tds.net

PA-Spot, you're shooting a much lighter arrow than 12 grains per pound. Any bow can shoot 180 FPS if your arrows are very light.

Shooting home made sitca spruce at 31" with 145grn tips. Guesing they are around 550 grans. Will let you know latter today. As my intrest in learning is up. Will gran weigh, shoot thru crono.
Here we go 560 grain arrow. Drawn to 26" four shots thru crono. average is 143fps. Sorry

Pat B.

Your draw length ------.

I'm shooting an A&H acx that's 45 @ 28 that I draw to about 29 1/2 and with a 610 grain arrow I get a bit over 170fps..

IMO,
You would be better off  working into a bow that has enough poundage to get 9gpi w/ desired arro weight.Heavily reflexed and low brace height bows come w/ a price on forgiveness

wingnut

Your going too be hard pressed to get those numbers with a 26" draw.  But I think the short A&H bow will probably come the closest.

Our Epic with a 15" riser and short static limbs makes a 54" bow and will be pretty close.  Might have to put one together and check it out.

Zradix,
There are some curves out there that are so purdy they mesmerize the deer making speed of delivery irrelevant.

I'm a short draw archer, reckon that growth spurt passed me by some 40-50 years ago. Frankly, as soon as you start talking archery speed becomes an oxymoron. Unlike many folks, in 45 years and many dozens of bow kills (admittedly, most with compounds) I can't remember a deer where arrow speed made a difference in the outcome. I try to shoot at unalarmed animals, well withing my "gimmee" range. If my mind stays in the game (doesn't wander)I've been quite happy with the results. I want a bow that feels right, accomodates my form (mainly grip here), can be made quiet, and yes, I'm a sucker for beautiful woods and handiwork.

I shoot 54in and a 56in Centaur. Never been through a chrono but its by far the fastest bow I have ever shot. Both mine are 46# at 26in,,dead stone quit and great shooters. I am not advertizing but it impressed me enough to have 2 of them.

It's not so much the actual speed I'm concerned about.

What I'm really concerned about is having enough energy to get a pass-thru. I shoot a sharp, long and narrow ( 190 el grande griz) to help.

I have an Eaglewing 56" recurve(Sixby) that is fast. I also have a Centaur Carbon Elite  and several Morrison Shawnees and they are all fast and quiet. I have a 27" draw. All of these bows are top drawer.

Bowwild

46# at 26" with 424 grain Beman MFX Classic. Broadhead was 100 grain Helix. Complete pass through at 21 and 16 yards on two deer this year so far. Both dropped in sight-52 and 59 yards away.  The bow was a 58" The Stick recurve.

I'm hoping to add two more before Christmas.

Zradix

Bow wild..What do you have any idea what speeds you have with that setup??
Are you saying your total arrow with point was 424grains or 524grains?
I'm sorry but I know nothing about carbon arrow types or their weights.

Thanks for the help everyone!
