Hello all,  I am going to make some woodies soon and am up in the air on a good durable finish.  I want something that is strong and will hold up to moisture.(I like moose hunting in the rain)  Is a polyurathane or a gasket laquor the way to go?  Thanks,
Jonathan

I like Pro-Fin. I have found arrows that killed deer a year later and the finish is fine. You can't ask for more than that.

Gasket Lacquer is a very good method. It seals well and can be done with a minimum of mess, clean-up and fumes. Another benefit is speed, when sealing a dozen shafts by the time you do the last one,(approximately 4 to 5 minutes for the 12) they are dry enough to start again in order. Don't know how long minimum time would be but I let them dry overnight after 4 coats and have had very satisfactory results.

sanding sealer works well also.

I use gasket lacquer also with good results.

I second the Pro-Fin.  It has performed very well for me.

After getting tired of smelling all the fumes from arrow paints and finishes I began using acrylic paints and water based poly for my cedars. As far as I could tell it worked as well as any others I tried and with no nasty smells or chemicals.
