I wanted to tell you about the terrific time I had taking a bow-making class from Ted.  He was very patient and went to great lengths to make it a positive experience.  Not only does he build amazing self bows, he can really teach as well.  I could not be happier with the class or the bow we turned out.  If anyone is thinking about making a bow, and would like to do it under the watchful eye of someone with loads of experience, I highly recommend contacting Ted and setting up a class.  Thanks for everything Ted!

Glad to have shared the two days with you Kent , where is a picture of that beauty, maybe a good one of you shooting it.
Tell Ruth that bread she made was great , thank you

My son and I did a bowmaking session with Ted two years ago, made some great bows. Just being in the shop is an experience in itself.

Ted,

I think if we put up a photo it should be Ruth shooting it.  Much more appealing.  I'll see if I can talk her into it.  The 10th coat of tru-oil has cured and been buffed out with 000 steel wool.  When I got out our tube of Barge Cement to attach the strike plate and grip I found that it was unusable, so I need to take care of that. Then it will be ready.

This bow was built for my wife.  To make a long story short, she damaged her right shoulder about four years ago and couldn't continue with archery.  Over that time, through therapy and exercise, she has repaired the damage.  Several months ago we stopped by Raptor Archery to say hello to Ted.  He had built a pretty little osage flat bow that was 34 lbs. @ 27".  Ruth fell in love with the way it felt in her hand.  When she shot it, she was able to get to full draw easily and more importantly her shoulder did not hurt the next day.  We decided that I would take Ted's class (which I had always wanted to do) and make her a 40 lbs. @ 27" bow, and as close to the shooting qualities as we could get to the one see had shot.  I believe that we succeeded handsomely.  This bow is just a shade over 41 lbs. @ 27".  It is 66" tip-to-tip with a bit less than 1" of string follow. It shoots a 425 grain arrow with authority and had no hand shock at all.  The grip is elk and the rest is moleskin.  Ruth is able to shoot it comfortably and well.

Great looking bow, congrats. K really glad to hear Ruth got back into archery. I can sympathize for her since I have been out 9 years due to 2 shoulders an elbow and hand.

Wow that is a very nice looking bow and I love the contrast on the handle.

I too took a class from Mr. Fry and now I am working on my 4th bow.  Each one is getting better than the last if anyone is thinking of taking a class be sure to call Ted as I know he will just about go anywhere for a bow making class.
