Every time I pick up my bow to shoot/hunt I make a fist, place my extended thumb against the handle and my hand should just touch the string. Lets me know instantly that everything is right, it becomes a habit eventuly.

Another quick check I have heard of but never tried is once your brace height is set, cut an old arrow down so when it is placed on the string it just hits the back of the shelf.

That is good advice.

When I start having arrow flight problem the first thing I check is myself (my alingment and release) followed by my brace height.

If you were shoot an well shot in string and you have found that it is now starting to stretch again give it a really good look over.

From experiance I have found that can mean I am loosing strands somewhere. For me it has been right at my knock point.

Once I get my brace height where I like it I crest my arrows so that the first band is right at the back of the riser when nocked.

I tried that Charlie but wanted the crest to lighn up on the other side.

well I have pretty arrows but mis-measured. (I measured before installing the nocks)

Cool tip stumpkiller!  I don't crest my arrows (Beman MFX Carbons) but I might but a stripe around them for this purpose! I could do it with a permanent marker I would think.

i was just kicking myself the other day...bow seemed noisy and i was all over the place.  Checked my brace height and i was almost 1/2" away from where i should be.  twisted the string a few times...bows quite and i'm shooting where i'm looking again.  i made a mark with a black sharpe on my arrows so i don't forget to check more frequently.

Good advice.
I was shooting a 3D course once and was doing fairly well.
About half way through I slowly started to shoot worse and worse. I thought I was having a bad concentration day.
When I finished the course and was looking at my bow I discoverd that the nock point had slowly moved up about a half inch.
This was on a string that had two years of shooting on it.
Ya just never know.

Problems seem to always be caused by something I overlook. If I didn't overlook things, I wouldn't have problems. Live and learn.

It is good to know that I am not the only one who looked every where else to solve things before I looked at brace height.

As the old saying goes, "It is always the last place you look."

Of course it's the last place. Once you find something why would you keep looking?

I do a similar thing with my arrows but I'm still learning to make my crests pretty but they are functional for my needs.

I also use the Sharpie, Tatersalad. It's part of the cresting now. Also holding the arrow down on the arrow shelf with the thumb the nock has to line up for the arrow to slide under. I'm one of the first to think if things aren't hitting where they are supposed to, it's gotta be me.
