Steve, I put mine at 7 1/2" and it is shooting real quiet. I don't know what is recommended, but I know what it likes.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Mine seemed to like right at 7 1/4".  It was 64" long.  Hope this helps Steve.
