Today I made my first loaf of bread from a "Little Delta Sourdough" dried starter I won at the auction during the Compton Rondezvous this past spring.

Folks... the house smells terrific, my tummy is happy, and some how, I feel connected to something more natural, something unspoiled by modern man.  And I am daydreaming, just a bit, about a hunting trip along the Little Delta.

Ok, I'll bite. What is the "Sourdough dried starter" that you speak of? Do tell.

Brian,
Can almost taste the bread!!  Glad you are putting the starter to good use.

Irish Archer,
Dick Mauch, from Nebraska, brought some sourdough starter home from a bowhunting trip to the Little Delta River in 1964.  They were staying at an old trappers cabin that is now known in bowhunting circles as the Little Delta Cabin.  Anyway, Dick has kept the starter going all these years and occasionally dries some for gifts.  I was able to talk Dick and Carol in to donating 3 bags - two for the St. Judes auction and one for the Compton Rendezvous auction.  Hopefully there will be more on the next St. Judes Auction and the Compton Rendezvous.
